Re: 4T Oil Change

Non-Synthetic motorcycle oil for wet clutches for break-in, your choice beyond that. I used Honda's non-syn then switched to Mobil 1 MX4T/Racing 4T.

I've never used a tq. wrench on the drain plug, just "snugged" it.

For the shavings in the oil... I would say you have 2 options.

1) Refill, start, listen for any odd noises, let it warm up, shut-off, drain, check for metal this time.
2) Pull the whole engine apart and see if anything is wrong.

I'd choose 1. It may be something left over from manufacturing. In that case, it's good that you got it out before starting the engine and you will prob never see it again.

do as 90Gt said, change out the oil with good motorcycle oil, I'd suggest to go along with that is to get a magnetic drain plug or if you have a drill press and can find a small round magnet, drill your drain plug (not through) and silicone the magnet in the plug....between the silicone and the magnet itself it wont come out..This will attract any shavings and keep them from circulating through the engine..

Some metallic in the first oil change is pretty normal from break in, excessice metal to the point the oil looks grey, thats bad...

Re: 4T Oil Change

Should I call up the place I bought it from? Or just flush it out a couple times like you say to do?

I was thinking of going magnetic as well. So I'll go this route and just keep a close eye on it. If it gets worst I'll be giving them a call up. Thanks for your help guys.

I have a feeling if you call them they'll tell you it's from manufacturing.

I was thinking the same thing. It wasn't much but but had one big piece. Maybe its even from the drain plug. Good thing I'm changing out the oil.

Also is it good to change out the transmission fluid while I'm in there?
