API GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil

API GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil are these what the x 18 pocket bike uses? Because the aimsoil isn't recommended to use if ur bike uses these gear oils. Or do the x 18s use other gear oil if so what kind do they use? If the oil isn't it i so can't find the right synthetic oil that's JASA approved and wet-clutch compatable. I don't know they say it's not recommended but would it still work?

Re: API GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil

4 stroke engines dont use gear oil;-they use 4 stroke motorcycle engine oil..........the crank/piston and cylinder makes contact with the same oil as the trans gearing and the clutch.................

Some 2 stroke dirtbikes use gear oil in the crankcase...........the crank doesnt make contact with the gear oil...........the 2 stroke crank makes contact with the gas and oil mix so thicker oil can be used for the gears and the wetclutch..............

You dont use gear oil in a 4 stroke superbike............................Peace

Absolutely.....you can use the Amsoil 10/40 synthetic in your bike without any problems............horizontal aircooled engines use only motorcycle engine oil.....not gear oil.............Peace
