Brake light and running light issue x18

Hi I just got my x18 yesterday, I did an oil change on her and drove around until dark. When I first turn on the lights I notice the running in the rear were working fine. But after another drive I noticed they had stopped working, at the same time I noticed the brake lights were not working too . I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and if so maybe you could point me to the right connector or what you did to solve the problem. Thank you Jeff

My light burned out with in a few months, i went to auto zone and got a new bulb. When I would press my brake the light wouldn't get brighter but when I would pull the clutch in the light would get brighter (like it was the brake) but that is still mystery.

Hell no, this is the same thing pissing me off, im re-wiring my damn bike. What happened to me was, the first day of riding, the tail light burnt out. No big deal, when and got another, it burnt out. Ok, once again, I think there might be a short somewhere but switched again same night, it went out. And yeah, my lights go on when I pull the clutch, stupid chinese wiring...

You have to take the switch off of the clutch handle and cut it off then use 2 female blade connectors and plug them into the front brake, you will see 2 lonely connectors coming out of the front brake. This fix is only for the manual X-18s , autos do not have this problem because the clutch handle on an auto is the rear brake ....hope this helps

The folks in china are to cheap to seperate the autos with the manuals so your clutch lever is actually a brake lever... But yeah, like guy said - its an easy fix!

Re: Brake light and running light issue x18

the thing with my bike is that not even when i pull on the clutch the break light does not come on....its just the running light. should i replace the bulb of the rear light cause if its like bulbs off of cars...they have two filaments. Could one filament be burnt out?

Re: Brake light and running light issue x18

Ya..replace your bulb..should be a #1157 bulb..and then do the fix that I posted and you'll be all set ....or you could get the #1157 LED replacement bulb and it will never go out

I'm not to sure about the whole 1157 thing. I mean I got mine apart now, and although it does look like a 1157 base, the hole the bulb has to go into is to small for a normal 1157 bulb, never the less a bigger LED headed bulb!

I finally thought I figured this problem out myself doing what Banshee stated. However, disconnecting the plug labeled "left brake rear light" connector the electric start wouldn't work. I plugged it back in and it started right up. So what I'm doing is connecting one of those terminals off the right hand lever (front brake lever) to 12V. Then connect the other terminal to the brake light wire off the actual bulb connector.

Forgot this...

Anyone have a clue as to what bulb number the brake/tail light is? I found a bulb at Autozone that fit the bulb socket, the shape of the "glass" of the bulb and the NUMBER of lugs...however they were even...unlike the bulb that came out of the bike..which has offset lugs.

I never said to disconnect the plug labeled "left brake rear light" look at my post again..Remeber once you do the fix you have to hold the front brake in and hit the start button to start the bike because now the start safety is the front brake not the clutch.
