How To: Timing advance RX12 110CC or any other 4 stroke

This mod will allow you to relocate the pickup sensor on your flywheel so you can advance the timing. Perform this at your own risk, it works great and is reversible but dont blame me if you do it wrong.

Step 1: remove the flywheel cover using an 8mm socket.

Step 2: remove the pickup sensor by removing the 2 8mm bolts

Step 3: What you want to do is lengthen the mounting holes so you can slide the sensor downward. This will make it pickup the signal from the flywheel earlier causing the advance in timing. Before you start mask off the flywheel cover and tape off the sensor to protect everything from the metal shavings.

Step 4: It is VERY important to ONLY lengthen the holes upward, so that when you remount the sensor, it can be slid downward. The lower end of the holes are left untouched so that if ever you want to return the timing back to stock, you know exactly how far to slide it back up. When you are finished grinding be very sure to get all the shavings of the sensor and out of the cover, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!!

Step 5: Remount the sensor sliding it down in its new postion. Remember that 2-3mm advance is plenty, any more than that and you can cause serious damage.

Step 6: Install the side cover and start you motor, listen to what the engine sounds like. If done correctly the engine will run and sound alot better. If done wrong you will hear a pinging noise called detonation, meaning you moved the sensor to far. If this happens take the side cover off and move the sensor up just a tad and try again.
When done right You should feel a good power increase all the way through the power band.

This mod is reversible if done right, and only takes 10-20 minutes.

And as always.... if your motor blows up............dont blame me

unless the newer engines have this type of ignition the answer is NO, this is a totally different ignition than most 4 strokes.....Your bike should have a flywheel with the pick-up and charging coil under it...........If you want to have adjustable timimg and want quicker RPM's go with an Inner Rotor Kit.......

This is a great idea on this style ignition, unfortunately all the 4 strokes dont have this set up...
