x18 wiring help

i recently purchased an x18 from a kid who really screwed up the wiring harness. I purchased a new wiring harness and began to install it. about 75% of the components that hook into the wiring harness are alright. The rest have there connectors cut off so i have been splicing on the ma;e connectors so that i can slide them into the female connectors and test power. I am stuck not knowing where/how to connect a few of the last remaining connections.

right now i still need to connect the e-start switch (red & black wires) the ignition switch (green, red, and 2 black and white wires) 2 different 2 wire plugs

the connectors left on the wiring harness are :
POWER - pink and black
CHARGE PORT - green and red
STARTING SWITCH - green(yellow stripe) and red(yellow stripe)
ONE NOT ON MY DIAGRAM - black(white stripe) and green

i do have some idea, but what would really be helpful is if someone could tell me what color wires go into what other color wires. I know someone out there can help me, so please... do. i want to get this thing juiced so i can make sure it runs before i spend anymore dough on it

Re: x18 wiring help

well i thought i had wired it correctly, but i know something must be wrong... I think maybe it needs a new ignition coil? because i got a brand new spark plug, gapped it and put it in, try to start and can hear it try. Nothing happens other than the exhaust blows and it tries to start, so i pulled the plug and put it back in the coil and tried it and no spark. I am hoping that it is just the ignition coil, can i just replace it with anyone that is for a 110cc like this one?
RACING IGNITION COIL 90CC 110CC 125CC MOPED,DIRT BIKE:eBay Motors (item 180421716920 end time Nov-17-09 18:04:00 PST)

or do i need the exact one as stock?
4 Stroke Mini Pocket Bike Parts 110cc Ignition Coil x18:eBay Motors (item 180401084995 end time Nov-25-09 00:13:48 PST)

does anybody have any suggestions?

also i had a tail light for a kawasaki klx that i hooked up to the tail/brake on the x-18 and the light doesnt come on with the light switch or the brakes... but it does when you squeeze the clutch?? what have i done wrong, someone please help me...

Re: x18 wiring help

Have you checked the connections for the coil or had it tested by the local dirtbike dealer......sometimes they rust or oxidize up and messes with power distribution....If the coil isnt powerful enough to jump a 1/2"-3/4" gap from sparkplug to a good ground source then its not strong enough to start the engine.sometimes the stators crap out on these bikes too thats where having your coil tested by an outside source assures..If youre gonna buy a coil I would buy a kitaco so youll have atleast one of the mods out of the way.........

http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/w...e/100-0275.jpg

On the X-18/19 and X22 the neutral safety switch is wired into the brakelights and the clutch handle..It has to be switched over to the front brake handle and that will make it so you have to pull the front brake handle to start the bike...........On the X-18 in the rear harness taillight connector youll see a yellow with green stripe wire...That wire needs to be clipped before the connector and spliced into and a new circuit for the rear brakelights made out of it...To do it correctly there should be a 15 amp relay added and the relay should be triggered by the ground wire through the brakelight switch in the front brake handle.....If you run it the cheap way by runing power through the microswitch it will eventually burn up........Peace

Re: x18 wiring help

well first I have to say thanks guys for the help...

I had the coil tested and it was bad, so i replaced it..... and still no spark. I guess its the stator now? I am having trouble finding that part online somewhere.... there are plenty on ebay but i was looking for an example of what it looked like so i made sure to get the right one... does anybody have a picture of their stator or know of someone who sells one specifically for x-18.... I am trying to be patient with this bike but starting to worry so i wanna get this stator so i can check another thing off the list.....

will it not spark because of stator? is there a way to test stator or should i just go ahead and open it up and look at it?

It could be the stator of the CDI box..The stator could be tested with a digital multimeter if you have one..Its possible the connections for the coil or CDI are compromised also...The connectors are like tin foil......below is a picture of the stator thats in your engine and could be gotten from scooterparts.com in florida if it turns out its bad........Peace

Re: x18 wiring help

thanks cam, so i just used my multimeter on the stator and it reads 436 ohms, does that mean its bad because its under 500 or is that close enough? also in the pic u posted it looks like one of them has 6 wires..... mine only has 5.... because the kid i bought it from cut the female plug off of the wires (i have kind of had to guess on most things), i have wired it so that 4 of my five wires are into the plug, in one of the diagrams it acts like the red & black wire is separate from the plug, on mine the male plug from the harness has four wires..... red/black, yellow, white, and blue/white..... i wired the red /black..... to the red/black, is that not right?

the five wires coming from my stator are red/black, yellow, white, and blue/white(in plug) and a green separate... so i just figured that they wired up together.....

Re: x18 wiring help

The red/black and blue/white wires are for the running system and the solid yellow and solid white are for the charging system..the solid green is the ground wire for both. The red/black and blue/white wires are color coded for the two that goes direct to the CDI box to pulse and power it..Although 436 ohms seems close in numbers;-If the value comes up under or over +/-50 ohms to 500 ohms its considered faulty but Im guessing the kid you bought it from shorted it out trying to rewire it wrong.........Peace
