x19 auto elec start prob

got another 19 yesterday and it wont start anymore it was kinda busted up to begin with but it has very low hours. wen it did start it sounded like the solenoid would click rapidly till the motor startd now today i push the button and literally nothin. checked wiring and kinda inspected the starter but cant see obvious problems

when you do electric start, your not supposed just hold down the button, you burn out your solenoid, and electric starter doing that, your only posed to let it click three times if i remember right

Re: x19 auto elec start prob

It could be a bad starter pushbutton switch, bad solenoid or a faulty neutral safety switch....

A digital multimeter could help find the problem in 15-20 minutes if the tank cover and lower fairings are removed..............Peace

Re: x19 auto elec start prob

The safety switch is at the clutch handle in the perch...sometimes the little plastic pin on the microswitch in the perch gets stuck and cannot retract out to complete the solenoid power circuit to power up the starter solenoid so when the starter pushbutton is pressed it grounds the ground leg of the solenoid harness wire to the frame completing the starting circuit to activate the solenoid to crank the starter..........

If your clutch perch microswitch wires have been cut off and swapped over to the front brake switch then you must squeeze the front brake to get the neutral safety lock to unlock.....

You can unplug the harness plug going into the clutch handle and twist the two wires from the plug at the harness together then go to the rear taillight connector and 4-6" before the plug cut the green wire with yellow stripe..After that you only have to turn on the key and push the button without squeezing anything. To rehook up the brakelight you will need to make a small harness to hook the rear brakelight up the right way to the front brake switch and have the rear brakelight activate like a real 1:1 bike...The best way would to use a 15 amp relay kit for hooking-up aux.fog lights to make a real brakelight circuit and add a real running light too with an 1157 bulb socket for more authenticity.........Peace
