Yeah Renton is a good place. Me, laosta & flip boy went down to the Fred Meyers to check out their deserted parking lot. It is pretty good with alot of curbs that we can use for races. We asked the Food manager of FM and he said its aite if we get permission from the cops? *** is that? If we get an ok from FM then shouldnt we already be able to ride there? Anyway its a good place to race around. Some of you guys should join our pb clan of 3 we go riding all over the hoods in the south end and nobody seems to even really care not even the police(well at least where we live) cruise through Beacon Hill, Alki, whatever... Break necks while we ride and do tricks for those youngsters as we roll by. Plus we always see other pber's along cause alot of them ride on the streets and hold up traffic.

It was quite funny when all 3 of us did wheelies on our pb's for about 14 feet along the side walk, we broke hella necks. It was hilerious!

SPD, Port of Seattle, Renton PD and KC are not sure if we can ride in 35 and less.
We have riden to Alki and Lincoln Park from South Park and only once we were spoken to. There was an incident were one cop asked the other cop if it was ok, and the second cop had no answer.
At Fry's on sunday, once in a while a Renton cop will bring his bikes and even radar ppl.
When ever we ride a helmet is manditory. No helmet...no ride. That's our #1 rule. Obey the rules of the road. And if we have to talk to a cop...don't have an attitude. Chances are they let you go or they are just curious. They don't make the laws, they just enforce them.

Sounds like the revenue rangers were hot to meet thier quota of confiscated money this month. Did ya make sure and thank them for protecting you from terrorism? f'n punks. Its becoming clear that we need a scooter lobby group to protect our rights.

You might want to do some research here to see which laws apply.

good luck

well i have done some research ...the scooter law does not apply to us being that we right them all the time . we dont use "our feet" to sometimes push them.. i have called WSP and everytime i try to talk to someone they say that you need to talk to a motorcycle cop....i been trying to get a hold of the city of seattle and they also give e the run around.....and i also been to all of the websites i can find even call oly. and there going to send me a bunch of $hit on the laws......
ill keep you all up to date as i find out till then ....watch out for the cops if you ride on the streets

Sorry, when I said "scooter" I was being generic. It would seem that mopeds or motor driven cycles are probably the closest match. Wheel size and motor displacement seem to be the biggest determining factors. Scooters have less than 10 in wheels no motor spec, mopeds bigger than 16in wheels with 50cc, motor driven cycles less than 5hp with no wheel spec. Its a bit confusing no doubt.

You might try taking it to the WSP for inspection as a moped or scooter or motor driven cycle or whatever they want to make it....? With the 49cc motor, moped is the closest match though. That way even if they won't do it. They may tell you what extra you need, ie mirrors, etc. to reg it. Or they reg it and your legal. And at the least when you go to court you can tell the judge "Hey, I tried to get it registered. This is silly, Its only got a 49cc engine and goes 25mph downhill with a tailwind. Its got lights and signals. I only drive it on arterials and bike lanes. I wear a full helmet and always ride safe." yada yada.... You'll at least get the ticket reduced.

Of course I don't know your full situation. If you were on a > 30mph road with no helmet or gear. Then you are a fair game for the cops.
