Wild West Results & More

First things first.....

This was an amazing event for the pocketbikes. The X-Karts Series was a joke and I personally think they where lucky to have all the pocketbike racers out at their event. WE MADE THAT PLACE LOOK GOOD!! It also opened the doors for more opportunity.

So to start I'd like to say Thanks to every single rider who showed up and supported a very short time effort by Tall Boy Pro (also known for ********) in putting together a last minute effort to take advantage of the TV Exposure. You riders did an amazing job, showed the kart scene that we are for real and gave the spectators more than they could have ever asked for.... very curious to see how the TV production turns out (again... parts of the event that where not organized by me where questionable). I will have times posted as soon as the entertainment company provides them to me. HSL Entertainment deserves a round of appluse for giving us a chance to be on TV.

I would also like to say thanks to the LAKC (Los Angeles Karting Club) for handling operations and working with a new product and procedures they where not familar with. I think they saved the day for the X-Karts Series in many ways. But they handled our situation well, adapted and enlighted their perspective of what miniGP racing can do and are already in contact with me about doing more.

I would also like to thank Smokin Pocketbikes, whom where the original individuals contacted for this event. They could have just came down with their kids and crew and taken all the exposure but instead contact Tall Boy Pro and asked me to open it up to the public in hopes of building a better miniGP industry. Kuddos to you guys for keeping your eyes on the success of everybody invovled. Also big thanks to you for supporting a mid...south Sponsored Riderfrom ******** in need who ended up sweeping the 6.2 and 4.2 jr races (Rocky Morales)... that shows your true character.

Of course I would like to also thank Bill Wilkey for supplying the timing system and flying all the way from VA with Robbie to give us West Coasters some serious competition. This is also extended to Frank Giannini who flew out himself and Jimmy to represent his brand and products. You guys came out on your budgets, spent the money and once again participated in a WEST Coast venture lead by Tall Boy Pro.... I only can hope that in the near future I can work with you and return the favor by helping to bring some West Coast Favor to the East.

And of course before I go... SMRRC (Devils Stable included), NWMM, OMRRA, and ******** who's people really deserve a lot of credit for traveling hours to make up 100% of the head count (50 plus mind you). Lets Keep it going!!

As of know I will work on gathering results for the event, since I was not the event organizer they are in the hands of the X-Karts company HSL Entertainment and who knows how easy it will be to get the information from them. It will be retrieved but may take a few days or possibly a week. I will be working on a re-cap peice on ******** so keep an eye out... the resutls will be posted there... not here.

Again thank you, if you enjoyed this... or even enjoyed the AMA event in SoCal I've got more coming and I plan on doing everything I can to help you the riders, clubs and companies that support your habbit get closer to a main stream sport.

Working towards a Common Goal,

Josiah Taulbee

HEY, THOSE ARE SOME VERY STRONG WORDS FOR YOU TO SAY! LAKC DIDNT DO ANYTHING EXCEPT RENT some of THE EQUPTMENT TO HSL ENT.

dude call me, i wouldnt want to say what i want to say about this, like this here on a forum.

pocket bike participants - yes you rock, you were a very cool crowd to race with and complimented the karts well! if there is a next time it will be even better, karts were not represented the way they should have been, but with the smaller turn out bread awsome back and forth racing for the lead, typicly getting 300+ entries for a weekend, x-karts is on the rebound and the reno event shows that tv coverage (three live broadcasts, and the show) is were up and coming racers will be picked from. cant wait to see the select reel on this event!
was trey the rockinest annoucer/ MC you ever heard or what!!?
i hope baby mario is ok, he is quite the kid, aggressive, fast, and at times can drive, i mean ride a bit over his head, but thats how champions are made. the best was when the guy flipped over backwards just before the finish line and lost the race! wheelies are for show, save them for after you win!
thanks for having a strong support for the x-karts event, alot of parents said it was on the level of a national caliber event, i want to see what happens when we have the proper prep time!
who stole the haybails on monday? 500 is alot of hay!
peace
your race director, David Jimenez

I'll give you a call as soon as I get settled in Ohio... on a flight tomorrow morning.

Overall the event was fantastic but I truely believe the LAKC guys helped make that happen. It was run as if it was a national level but there where riders from all over... so even though it wasnt presented as a national event it in some way was.

Great job Dave... to you and your staff.

An Amazing event... YES! I think everyone worked so hard to make it that. Cedric from BMS was very impressed, and enjoyed himself tremedously. Thank you to everyone who participated. There are always going to be glitches, but overall the event was very professional, and successful towards the promotion of our industry.

David, you are awesome, true to the safety, and growth of riders. Yes, Tray definately made the event, jumping over the hay, and anything else when needed. Thank you.

Thank you to Brandon for coming all the way from OMRRA to help insure the safety of the riders, YOU ROCK!

Yes, please post up how Mario is doing. My stomach gringes when little guys go down. ANY of them.

See you all soon -

Kris

Both Mario and Robert are home now recovering from the crash. Team NWMiniMoto & Team Giannini had a tough but good weekend. Getting our bikes tuned for the climate was a constant battle. Jimmy D. proved his skills driving his 3 port AMG powered bike to the podium. Robbie (Robocop) was also riding on an AMG motor and demonstrated incredible skills. Bern and Rich--great to see you guys. (Faster than heck on the DM’s). We hope Gary’s dislocated shoulder heals soon. Mario and Robert were doing well until a pretty devastating crash. Both of them are home now and recovering. If the kids in the 4.2 class were all riding series 1 4.2s as the rules clearly state, the podium might have looked very different. We have never seeen riding that rough, (up here there would have been a dozen black flagged riders). Guys were getting taken out right and left, going over the hay bales and getting bumped all the time. It was brutal. TJ was fast as ever. I got tangled up with a rider who went down right in front of me off the start of the super prod race, and on the restart worked my up the grid from the back. My left arm is bloodied up and my left hand has nerve damage and is still partially numb. We all are recovering, though and will be back for more next time. I sure hope the results get posted some day.

Mario and Robert are on the mend. Mario got out of the hospital Monday morning and is feeling better. It sounds like it was a whiplash type of injury. Robert is pretty bruised up from the impact with the hay and was having nose bleeds at the airport on the way out.
Although Frank G. was not happy about the competitors 6.2s that ended up in the 4.2 Jr. class after preparing the 4.2s for the kids, he was pleased with the results of the AMG motors and Jimmy's outstanding performance.
I must have missed something in the posted rules on this race and feel like the kids were out gunned in the motor department.

The rest of the junior riders were running 6.2 with a 14mm restrictor, which is equivelent to a 4.2 unrestricted.

Robert and Mario I know were running 4.2s with 17.5 restrictors per the posted rules. I also thought that restrictors were required in this class. We know that Rocky and TJ were on series ones. They did well with them as always.

not according to the rules, which stated series 1 4.2 only in the 4.2 class, but who reads those anyway? I guess those who support a race don't need to read them.

Yeah Baby - You guys rock, and are always a pleasure to watch. The kids loved you guys, and I love having such positive role models for them to look up to.

There was some incredible talent here. Lots of fun even though it wasn't for points.

I think everyone that attended and/or raced contributed to supporting the race. There was 16 bikes just in the NWMM trailer sent to the event. Despite the usual bickering and other issues that seem to follow the NW crowd around we thought it was a great event and look forward to Josiah's next.

Devils Stable, Alien Motorsports, Advance Motorsports, Team Sukafree, Team Gianinni Racing and all the other teams that raced the 10 and 15. All I got to say is Dammmm I am so very impressed at the skills you all have. It was a pleasure to ride and meet you.

Well now that we have heard about the "and more" can we hear about the results? In a simular format to the sheets that were posted for the heat races would be fantastic It would have bean very beneficial to all the participants to have the results printed out for all to take with them after the races were completed. Can't wait to see the coverage aired.

We're back home now. Little Mario took a pretty big hit and as Shawn stated, his injury came from a front/back/from impact on his little Noggin. Even after the paramedics cleared him to race, we had him walk around and he began to lose his vision. I immediately had Josiah get the paramedics back to our pits where we all decided to get him to the hospital ASAP. Once there they gave him a battery of tests and he was under heavy sedation, he underwent a CAT Scan where they verifyed his level 6 concusion. They kept him overnight and he was released on Monday afternoon. All in all, the kid is more upset at not being able to race than anything, but he is in good spirits nonetheless.

As far as the event goes...Here are my thoughts...

A big thanks to those who are responsible for getting this event going. I think that for the most part it was a great success! It was great to see pocketbikes get the TV exposure that we all know is needed to help expand the sport.

It was great to see so many folks come out and ride. The only thing that I have an issue with is rules not being followed. As I and many others were told, the rules are to be followed to the "T" and no one is above them, it truely was unfortunate that the rules could not be enforced at this event. I think that things would have gone different had we been the ones "interpreting" the rules as others did. In any case, what is done is done and I only ask that in the future, that the race director follow through with what was said in the riders meeting about following the rules as they were written.

In any case, congratulations to Rocky Morales for his commanding wins in the kids' classes. He is a great and very talented rider and the perfect embassador for the sport of pocket bikes. Congratulations to the other winners and everyone else that was able to come out to this event. Like many have said, can't wait to come to another one of Josiahs events. A HUGE thanks to Frank Giannini and the NWMM Race Team for all of their help and support. And an even Bigger thanks to Shawn Hill and Robert Linse, you guys rock!

Cheers,

Mario Alvarez

I think being televised may only be in the surrounding areas of Reno/Sacramento and further up North depending on the range or coverage by their cable stations. I want to see this as well but from my dealings with the Reno cable network on past projects only certain areas of Sacramento are in the zone. I think the race promoters should know exactly
Update: After looking through the Nuggets website it did mention that the race will be Nationally televised on the Speed Cable Network so this may mean Speed "On Demand" but I would check the Speed TV website to see if it's listed. I checked on Speed "On Demand" and so far NASCAR only thing listed at this time.

Just to clarify on the rules... I told many that the where posted on the site but after receiving an email from Tammy I saw that they where not posted according to what I had written. This posting is absolutly my fault, I sent over the rules prior to deciding on the 4.2 class at which i recall not changing them because I was not sure we had the spot of the 4.2. I then rewrote them when I confirmed the class which was when the announcments where made however the update must not have been sent to the site. This is absolutly my fault.

Now I want comment on the situation because regarless of the rules in the 4.2 I feel the situation was fair. This was proven in multiple ways. No bike had any major advantage on the track... nothing was pulling. The first place rider Rocky who raced both in the 4.2 and 6.2 had different specs, in the 6.2 he had the 8.5 with 14mm restrictor and in the 4.2 he had bone stock 4.2, yet he won both races on his ability to ride. Almost identical races considering the top three where the same in each race. In the 6.2 Bennie and TJ where in the same order as the 4.2 when they where on identical motors. I truely feel this was a fair playing level and the riders who won, did so out of there desire to win. It was some amazing racing...

Again, I do accept responsibility for the inaccurate post in rules... this is unacceptable. I apologize to those who feel they had a disadvantage, however I want them to know I dont feel there was a disadvantage. And I want to make sure you understand that I would not say to people that the rules where on the site if i honestly did not beleive I had made the changes.

Obviously rules for riding need to be analyzed for the coming year, which I hope I can help be intramental in helping that happen.

Call me if you have any problems. All and all it was an awesome event... each one we do gets better and better and their are many problems that come to my attention that I try my best to address. We are all working towards a common goal and I feel we can achieve it if we keep putting effort into making the events that support the growth of the sport. Please let me know what I can do for you...

Josiah

P.S. Just to clarify... on the comment about X-Karts being a joke.. overall the event was terrific, produced reasonable well and something to be considered for the future (karts and pb), but the pocketbikes lead the feild.. the comment had no disrespect to X-karts directly but more to the fact that no karts showed up. It was a joke that more didnt show up considering what was offered... TV Exposure.. Spectators Etc... where were the karts? (IKF Event i think).
