Newbie with some questions

I'm new to the pocketbike world, but i do ride motorcycles (that are street legal). Im not a newbie to motorcycles, but i am to these minibikes. I was in autozone the other day, and i saw some of those, and it looked like alot of fun just to get one and mess around with along with some of my friends. My main concern is, im afraid the ones in autozone are cheaply made and are really crappy, am i right? Their going for 300 dollars, and i want to spend it ratherly wisely. When i get a pocketbike, i want to soup it up a little bit, are they soup-up-able? Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to your new addiction! If I were you, I would stay away from the Autozone bikes. I ride what is called a Lucky 7 Cagllari (Cag) You can tell which ones these are by the removeable rear swingarm. The quality of these bikes is ten-fold of the Autozone bikes I saw at my local store. Of course I am biased, but you can do a search for the Lucky 7 on this site, and see the quality I am talking about. The most helpful advice that I got from this site when I was in the market for a pocketbike, was research, research, research. Any Cag is soup-up-able. The most performance gaining modifications that can be done to the bikes is within the engine itself. Like porting, lightened pistons, etc. Other than the major stuff like that, any bike can be souped up. Good luck with your purchase, keep us posted!

I'm pretty sure lucky 7's don't have the big bore engine and they weigh more than your average cag.

The bikes at Autozone are electric, at leat the ones by my house. I wouldn't even call them pocketbikes. Do some research on this site and you will find everything you need to know. Check out the ads above.

Actually... The Lucky 7's are now coming from the factory with the big bore kit installed, and a heat shroud. It is going to be a little heavier because the frame isnt cheap. It's TIG welded. It's solid. Whats an extra pound anyways? Grady, If you want more info on the Lucky 7, PM me.

I bought this Mini G-P (full fairing) pocket bike at the left here for $325.00 (yes it is gas) I got it at my local pocket bike dealer. i dont race it much and when i do there are not any other bikes that have much of an advantage over me because there really arent many places to ride around here so people dont buy the really expensive bikes.this bike i got is actually pretty nice and you can get as many hop-ups for this bike as u can think up. it propels me at a top speed of about 35 mph with a stock setup! u can also get a big bore cylinder if u want a little more speed for about $90.00. Go to http://www.pocketwackos.com/ and look up some of there products. dont hesitate to email me at hcmaracer@hotmail.com i will get back to you within a couple days to provide answers to your questions.
P.S. those cagllari race bikes those guys are talking about are atleast $1000.00 a pop so if your not rich like me and not going to race much i think you should give that site i provided a try. if you and your freinds want to buy some cheap, fast , reliable bikes to ride with each other i dont think you will be dissapointed with a couple of these bikes.
