Minimoto is a typically European term for a real pocketbike. Just to confuse things even more, the US is starting to adopt the term for mini supermotard bikes. On this forum, minimoto means pocketbike.
And just to save you the effort of asking, there are two sizes of real
pocketbikes:
Mini is obviously the smaller size with an overall length of about 35", 27" wheelbase and 15" seat height. Minis are said to handle and wheelie better due to their reduced size and weight.
Midi has an overall length of around 38", 30" wheelbase and a 18" seat height. They are about 10% bigger than minis. The exact measurements vary slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Cag is a blanket term used by most to describe all Chinese
pocketbikes. Within the Chinese bikes are a variety of designs:
-The original low hp, half faired Blata Elite 13 replica (mini)
-The midi sized, fully faired, low hp bike with bolt-on decorative pieces meant to look like a GRC GP (but don't). Shares the same motor with the above.
-the 40cc "Open Class" Blata B1 replica (both water cooled and air cooled)
-And the 50cc GRC GP replica.
One of the problems with the Chinese bikes is that the same model is sold under a variety of names and sold under a variety of claimed hp and speeds. The truth is that they are all made in the same factories and lots are sold to the highest bidder. The highest bidder then puts their own name on them and tries to sell them as if they were a unique bike. Some Chinese bike sellers are quite reputable, some are downright liars. Your best bet is to check the Chinese bike forums here and compare notes on what everyone has. You'll start to see similarities.
