How can I start pocketbiking?

Hello everyone,
I'm new here. This summer I'm going to live in Montreal, but now I live in italy.
I have to ask you some questions:
-Is there a canadian pocketbike federation?
-Which bikes can I use for competitions?
-and all the other questions that a beginner can ask!

Hi there since you liev in italy you should get yourself a bike over there, cause they are less expensive than here, but find out what racing classes are here, cause its mostly the chinese copies people have over here in cnaada, but check the net cause I believe quebec does have a pocketbike organization ! Its kind fo hard getting pocketbike stuff over here too especially the european stuff ! Best of luck !

dear motogp,
in italy EVERYTHING costs a lot!!!
it's true that they are high quality bikes, but they cost too much!!The price is between €1500-€2300($2460-$3772).And I don't know if I can use them for the quebec competitions!!
Here the Polini GP3(the "best"pocketbike)costs €2500($4100)!!

Most bikes in Canada right now are China Copys. As there is not a large number of Italian bikes, or a large number of the same bikes for that matter, most groups just put all the bikes (regardles of hp) in one class.

If it was me, i would either get a "4.2" or a "6.2" hp bike. They would be powerfull enough to beat the china bikes (including the new water-cooled versions) but wouldnt be to much faster (you will still have some competition)

How far would you be willing to travel to race?...there are quite a few racing leagues in the Northern United States (thats where i ride).

Well,i really don't know because I still have to live in Canada!
I think that in Montreal there should be enough competitions.
What if I use the Polini GP3 Reverse?People say that it has got 13hp!!!

With the Gp3. you will have no competition at all. It would probably be one of the most expensive, most powerful, and nicest bikes in Canada.

I dont even think it is available in Canada. I would guess over $6000. The mark up for bikes in Canada is great, as most bikes are imorted to the US first, and then Canada.

I live in Ontario. I dont have a bike anymore, but i will be picking up a Full Fairing Swing Arm Cag, and either a 6.2 Gianini, or a 4.2 RR for next season. But again, since there is little or no racing in Canada, I travel to the United States to race.

Re: How can I start pocketbiking?

Hey, well this is my first post but whatevaa.

I live in montreal, i have one of those chinese copy MT-A2 or cag bikes thats pretty modified to the max, performance exaust, delrotto carb, high tension clutch, reed assembaly, big bore kit... and i havent dynoed it but its pretty fast

For races in montreal, there are some friendly races at indoor tracks such as Circuit500 which is the biggest indoor track in north america. But there are also more championships and such around montreal. Check out www.circuit500.com for the track and stuff.

Also for championships check out http://www.cmmq.org/. And http://www.quebecminimoto.com/ which is a well known pocket biking organisation in quebec.

Anyways, i hope i helped out a bit, and if your planning on getting a gp3 get it in italty caz if you plan one getting one here, you're gunna pay about the actual price of a real life size bike..

ciaociao,
underoath

P.S. FORZA ITALIA!!

Re: How can I start pocketbiking?

It's amazing how little knowledge there is when it comes to pocketbike racing in Canada, and at what level our racers are at in the game. I'm not referring to dude in Italy either. I'm talkin' about Canadians. It's amazing to me how easily guys will just say whatever they think are the facts without being sure. There are plenty of euro bikes in Canada, and that are coming out to the races. You just may not see them at your local parking lot.

As far as racing goes, there is racing in Montreal, and you will be surprized if you think you aren't going to see any euro bikes there.

Maybe we'll see you at one of their events. We might be coming out for their finals race again this year.

See you at the track!

Re: How can I start pocketbiking?

Like, dudes ........ last post before you guys hit it was two years and one day ago today ....

You start pocketbiking by:
A) buying a pocketbike
B) learning to ride it
C) find other people in your area who ALSO have pocketbikes
D) listening to and learning from them
E) forming a club
F) practicing in parking lots
G) going to actual pocketbike races at local tracks

Oh, and:
H) going onto sites like this one so goofballs like us can have a good laugh at both your and our expense

Git 'er done !!!
