Chain Roller stuff

Here are some pics of my $3.00 chain rollers that I built from some stuff I found at the local 'Lowe's' hardware store.

I started by using some Crazy Glue to fasten the spacers together (trying to keep them the same length apart as stock) and then cut the spacer assembly to the correct length using a coping saw with a medium blade.

Although Model Airplane Glue would have been my first choice, The Crazy Glue held perfectly the entire time I was 'working' with these parts and I have no doubts that they will NOT come apart in use...

After I finished cutting the spacer to the length I wanted, I used some 60 grit sandpaper to smooth out the cut surface. (I tried many different grits to smooth the rough surface I cut on the nylon, and IMHO, anything finer than 60 will take way too much time and make you angry...)

As the stock rollers' metal bushing (in the middle) fits this .328" hole in the middle nylon spacer perfectly, I was able to use that part over again. The metal part fits good and still spins fine but is not loose inside the spacer...

We have only rode on these spacers a few times so far, but they are still very solid and have shown little wear. They seem to be slightly harder than the stock, plastic rollers and work well in this application. (These 'spacers' were also made in the USA... 'Nuff said!)

Hope these pics (with part numbers) help someone save a few bucks and keep good chain rollers on their bike... These things definitly help keep the chain from beating up your frame if they are adjusted well and installed correctly...
