What do YOU think about the 2006 rules?

Please see the attached file.

I don't even know where to start.

Notice, I am talking about the senior classes.

Good:

1. It looks like putting restrictors on the open class bikes has been removed. This was the biggest complaint of mine to you on the phone. I'm glad you dropped it.

Bad:

1. No more super proddy class even though this is the most popular class in US pocketbike racing.

2. No more Cag class for new riders.

3. No more 4.2 class for new riders.

4. If someone is visiting from out of town they cannot run in the open class as they have to have three podium finishes in the 6.2 class before they are considered a "pro" rider. Visiting riders will have to attend at least 4 ******** races before they can run in the open class.

5. I guess there will be no open class races until the 4th race of the season because nobody will can possibly have three podium finishes in the 6.2 class until the fourth race of the season.

6. No matter if you are a pro rider or an amature rider you can only ride one class PERIOD.

7. Anyone who currently owns more than one Pocketbike now has a nice paperweight for their desk.

Josiah, thanks for killing it for your out of town visitors (and your superproddy, cag and 4.2 racers). IMHO these have got to be some of the dumbest rules I have seen in the 4+ years I have been racing pocketbikes.

Unless there are some MAJOR changes you will not be seeing myself or my team (or a lot of out of town racers) visiting you this year.

Re: What do YOU think about the 2006 rules?

Now about the Junior classes:

Bad:

1. No cag class (The 2.5 class requires a Dell’orto SHA 14/12mm carburetor which Cags do not have).

2. All Polini Motors must run a GRC Production 6.2 exhaust so I guess 6.2's with a Polini or DM exhaust cannot race in this class.

Re: What do YOU think about the 2006 rules?

My take on the new rules?

1. The hell with ALL of the out of town visitors.

2. The hell with ALL of the Chinese bike owners

3. The hell with ALL of the 4.2 owners.

4. The hell with the racers who are good, but not good enough to finish on the podium.

5. The hell with the super proddy racers.

6. The hell with the Junior production racers who do not have a GRC or Blata pipe.

What a great way to run the 2006 series. Why don't you just rename it to the "shifter" series and get it over with as it does not look like you give a **** about the pocketbike racers who have supported you over the past 2 years.

Re: What do YOU think about the 2006 rules?

dont ****in come out to our races then, we dont need drama at the events. you and your team not coming means that there is less people that i dont have worry about smokin on the track.

you're all about drama and *****ing when you dont get things your way. who cares if you've been around pocketbikes for 4+ years, i dont, this is how things are now days.

peace,

Re: What do YOU think about the 2006 rules?

I personally think they need a good "revision", I see a lot of SC riders getting upset that they will only have really 1 class to race in unless they can qualify to run in the cash race. Also it would seem that visiting riders will not be able to race in that cash race, so they would in fact be limited also to one class, I don't really think you would find a whole lot of folks willing to travel 4-8 hrs for a single class.

I really personally don't mind since it obviously has no bearings on myself or our club, but it sorta sucks that the guys that like to travel down there will most likely not, and the riders down there will most likely have to travel a lot more to get a SP class to race in.

I also don't understand why they chose of all things, a GRC pipe?? Well to each his own.

Re: What do YOU think about the 2006 rules?

Just thought of another one....

If you want to run in the open class you need to own both an open class bike AND a 6.2. You need to race the 6.2 and get on the podium in 3 races before you can race your open class bike. Then after you qualify for the open class you are no longer allowed to race your 6.2 bike.

Josiah will not accept any feedback unless it's through email or a phone call.

Re: What do YOU think about the 2006 rules?

I think it sucks for Robert Basil to insert himself into ******** in such a negative manner. ******** consists of alot of great people vollenteering and doing the best they can. They are all learning as they go but have only the best intentions for everyone. In my opinion ******** is one of the finest race organizations in the country and I've been around for many years. Racing all over Cali in my younger days and as AD of Security for Laguna Seca. Robert needs to learn a little diplomicy and should step up and contribute something other than negativity. Most of us are in this for the love of racing and the comeraderie as opposed to Robert who seems to be in this for the money. Let's see if he lets this post remain. I look forward to seeing all the AZ cats next season, Mike & Jen, the Coffins and all the other great people that I've met when we travelled to AZ for races...

Re: What do YOU think about the 2006 rules?

I'm in this for the money? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone who knows me personally and knows how much time and money I spend out of my own pocket to run a website as large and popular as Pocketbike Planet is getting a nice laugh at your last statement.

I take it Josiah has not let anyone know about the thousands of dollars of free advertising and race promotion on Pocketbike Planet we did for the ******** last year. As far as the horrible PR, I guess if you call sticking up for my fellow racers horrible PR then so be it. From the responses I have received from ******** racers via email, PM's, phone calls and posts on PBP it looks like my feedback is welcome by at least some of the racers.

I understand that. I just think the rules need MUCH more than just fine tuning. I think they need a complete overhaul which knowing Josiah as well as I do I do not see that happening (and others I've talked to who have also known him for year as I have agree).

It would also be nice if Josiah would accept feedback on his own forum about the changes. Why he insists on getting feedback only via email or phone is beyond me. Why even have a dedicated club forum if he is not going to allow feedback about something as big as a complete direction change in the class rules?

My personal feelings is that Josiah is moving the ******** away from pocketbikes and over to "shifter" class bikes which is very unfortunate as it's because of pocketbikes that the club was started in the first place. I'd gather to say within 2-3 years tops there will be nore more pocketbike classes in the ******** and I'm not alone in that feeling.

Re: What do YOU think about the 2006 rules?

Hopefully the official class list will be different from this, if not there are gonna be alot of angry people. 2.5 CAG class is pretty much where every rider starts. I started with a cag, zack started with MANY cags, tons of people I know got their footing wrenching on a CAG, without a strong CAG class not many people are gonna take the dip into PB racing. Expecting everyone to buy a 6.2 HP Euro off the bat isn't gonna happen. Especially when its restricted down to the pipe of choice.
