| USMGP formats for 2005 To answer some questions from some newbies:
The goal of the USMGP was just this:
Last year I presented the ideas below:
That we divide the United Stated up into Regions and the clubs contained in regions would hold their events wether with each other or on their own and then they would have the regions designated as below:
Northeast
Southeast
North Central
South Central
Northwest (Alaska)
Southwest (Hawaii)
The theory is simple you can race within a 3 to 4 hour drive and not have to attend another event across the country unless you wanted to. Now, when that was not well received and no one outside of a couple people tried putting together a regional series then I gave up on that idea and put it into the back of my head for this season. I kept all the events I scheduled and we had some good events (Las Vegas) Thanks again for your help there Bill!
Now this season some people Like Erica & Bill & Marc have actually stepped up and created these series and it looks like we are going to have the Northwest on Board soon and I am currently looking of for a rep from Texas for the South Central & we also need someone from the Southeast to step up along with the North Central.
On the questions of Classes & rules. I agree that the same format should be used across the country in all clubs and regions. but, that will happen at a slow pace. To make this happen everyone needs to keep an open mind and understand that it is a given that not all clubs can run every clasws but, you do not have to run every class that we have created structures for. Just run the classes that you want under the class setup and structure that is put forth to start you clubs and your series. I know that we have alot of new people coming into our sport who need guidance and that is what we want to do. If we setup these class structures they are simple guidlines to help people setup their clubs under a common premise throughout the United States and if we keep moving forward like we are doing Canada. We are currently throwing around the idea of a Can-Am series event at a Northern Track (BeaveRun) so we can race with our friends to the North.
Lets all remember this: For about 90% of the racers this is a hobby! Their are some serious prospects forthe Unitied States roadracing future in this sport and we at the USMGP are striving to help these prospects grow. I know of about six kids that will have great careers in the sports of roadracing or supermotard if they are given the chance to improve and grow as riders and people. Lets show the support for all of these young riders and help them learn and see the poisitive side of this sport. We all have a great time together and can look past our differences and get this sport to a respectable level through education and a common goal.
I remember a few years ago when I met Jay and he had a vision. I want to tell you that I still respect Jay no matter what anyone may think. That guy made alot of great moves that helped this sport. So lets all look to the future!
All of the club managers & directors please consider our class & rules formats and pelase feel free to get back to me with imput. Just remember that the structures that we are presenting are a start to help guide you in your clubs and racing ventures. Please alsoe understand that we as the USMGP are not trying to run your clubs and tell you how it should be done. We are just trying to help you. So on this note I look forward to seeing everyone at the track in 2005 and I hope that I will see you in some other regions other than your own enjoying this sport and meeting some of the great people we have in oir "Hobby along with us.
Just remember the USMGP is run by racers for theracers!
