Hey everybody, I've been working on this pet project for a while now, and I wanted to show you guys how it's coming along...
The motor is a clone of a Honda 110cc, it has about 9hp and about 8ft/lbs torque. That second number should be alot more impressive than the first. It has 4 gears and neutral. It revs to about 8800 rpm's. Another nice thing about this motor is that it was desigend for street legal bikes. It is not unheard of to get over 70,000 km out of one of these suckers!!! So I figure that it'll be pretty reliable.
Alot of people asked me why I was putting this motor in a pocketbike, and not in an R1 or cateye garbage bike. Two reasons, first I think those bikes suck, second the chinese are already on it, we should see 4-stroke R1's in a few weeks.
First the good stuff: The bike is fast, it is insanely fast. It's pretty quiet although the muffler I have on it is for lawnmowers not motorcylces so I should be able to get it even quieter. Switching gears is easy, and it sounds crazy and looks crazy seeing a pocketbike go through gears to get up to speed. The suspension is wicked, it swallows up bumps no problem, my only complaint is that I used R1 forks and rear shock and they are so cheese quality.
Now for the bad. I made the bike sit too high in the rear end, and in turn the forks are at too steep of an angle. This has made the handling a little weird feeling. The air filter and manifold are too high on the motor, so I had to relocate the gas tank. Last but not least I made the gearing too tall. That means I rip trhough 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in seconds. 4th is the only real gear and it can pull away strong at about 5km/h. So I will definitely change the front sprocket.
So, how fast is this bike? I had a buddy clock me at about 85km/h. With the right gearing I should be able to hit 130 no problem. It is a scary beast. It lifts the front end on upshifts, it growls like a monster, it can ride up grass hills no problem. On the way to a buddy's house I raced a Honda Civic. I was on the sidewalk he gave it a little gas to test me, I nailed it and I pulled on him nicely! You shoulda seen the look on his face!!! The bike is a brute animal. I started getting a little overconfident and I was hitting some speed bumps, 3 in a row. On the fourth I went right over the handle bars and took a nice wipeout. Obviously I was more woried about the bike. It was fine and started right up. Lucky I wasn't going too fast.
I will get a video uploaded soon, and get some verified top speed reports as soon as I get my new sprocket in.
Now for some pics...

Good job, it's not as wacked looking as I was expecting, thought it would be all stretched out and raked to fit the motor. Looks fairly normal with the fairing on.
thats not fugly man. I pretty sure that guy put countless days and hours into his work, and in my opinion it looks almost right out of the box, but there's a beast under those fairings . Where's your 110cc, 4-speed Pocketbike? I'll tell you how it looks ...
LittleGSX-R - If I wanted your opinion I'd give it to you
Like I said the bike has worlds of potential, and Kudos to the owner, as we wish them continued success as a fellow supplier in our area, but even the owner would agree it's in its cheesy stages right now.

Here is the little YRS killer I've been working on for the past couple of weeks. What started out as a $400.00 Midbike with a 49cc weed whacker engine has become a fire breathing 110cc 8+hp 4 stroke with a manual 4 speed! Did all the mods and frame work myself including a fully adjustable rear shock, 22mm carb, custom tail up exhaust and on and on. Still needs to be correctly geared as it way to short right now (gets to 35mph in a REAL HURRY then signs off) I figure it will do at least 55+ when I do get it set up right. The suspension isn't half bad, though a little firm. I think it would make a great in-between bike for kids that are to small for a YSR and don't want to ride a small pocket bike. I'm not quite done with it yet. Next up is a hydraulic front brake system (it's gonna need it) When done, I plan on selling it to the highest offer (need money for the Elena race fund) Let me know if any of you are interested, it would make a great bike to beat those XR's at the Fremont track. I probably will have over $1200 into when done not including my time.
Thanks for the props guys, it was a labour of love. It did take me a long time to make this thing, mainly because I had to make sure everything worked right the first time. I can't afford to chop up too many bikes. If I had to do it again, which I am considering because I want to lower the back end, it should take me alot less time. Plus I want to have an extra bike just in case a buddy wants to join me for a cruise.
The whole thing cost me about $1200 canadian. I had to buy some extra stuff for the motor because the motor didn't come with an ignition coil and CDI box. The coil and CDI was another $150 or so after shipping. The forks and rear shock I took off a crashed R1 that I bought for parts so that was more or less free. The big ticket item was the motor it cost about $500. The best thing about this motor? You can fill it up at your local gas station!
I also have upgraded brake levers which have extra long reach and I'm gonna get a speedometer and maybe a tach too.
I will definitely post up some videos and some better pics tomorrow if the weather is good. In the mean time I still have to hook up the front brakes and make a hole for the gas cap.

Nice work man!!! Holy crap! That is sweet, we need to race! Where did you get the pipe from? I need one just like it.
You can do a quick fix on your gearing issue by changing the front sprocket. Got to www.hondaminitrail.com click on CT70, they have different size front sprockets that should fix the problem. I am ordering mine on Monday!

You gotta feel the jolt it gives you when you get into another gear! Sweet, uncontrollable power! I can't stop smiling, even after I crashed it already!!!
