49cc VS 47cc

I just bought two cag type bikes. One is a full fairing and the owners manual says it's a 49cc. The other one is a half fairing and it's owners manual says its a 41cc(all though the box and ad said 47cc). I am thinking about just cannibilizing the better parts from each bike and making one better one.

Is the 49cc motor really a 49cc? The only other thing that sticks out about it as compared to the 47cc motor is there is more plastic "ducting" around the head. Was wondering which motor would be better to use in the long run.

If the engine is really a 49cc what aftermarket parts will fit it? It is not one of the mid-bike 49cc engines so none of that stuff fits. Not sure if the 47cc stuff will fit it.

Anything else I should know about these engines?

Gee- thanks, so very helpful. tried the search button. 99% of the stuff was mid-bike related.

I'm not an idiot.

If you had any forum edicate you would have posted a link to a search that would bring up relevant results instead of writing nothing.

Man, We, myself included have got to stop sounding like such @$$holes with our responses. Link the new folks to some search results or an older thread but cutting off folks at the knees is'nt really needed is it. Take a look at the base of your cylinder head on the left side. Do the bottom fins go all the way around or are they broken near where the basebolt is? All the way means smallbore, broken means big.

they are both the same most likely, the more ducting just means you got the head shroud without having to pay more, it keeps temps down by directing the flywheels air around the cylinder instead of just past one side of it.

same parts fit both as long as the "49cc" bike isnt a midbike.

sometimes pipes dont fit perfect but its pretty easy to mod them or the bike for them to fit.

OK- I was somewhat at fault on the search. I was doing the basic search and it was bringing up 9 million results.

The links you all had listed had excellent info.

The 49cc bike DOES have the big bore.

OK- I really searched this hard but didn't find anything. One bike has a tubular frame, two ~3/4" round tubes that come from the head tube and meet up at the front of the seat. The chain stays are the same tubular steel. The other has rectangular tubing for the frame. Is one style better than the other?

chances are they are both very equal, some of the big bores have more torque but some of the 40cc bores run better than other big bores, ride both bikes with someone about your weight running the second bike and then switch bikes and you may or may not see a difference

I should say the front part of the frame is rectangular tubing and the rear is tubular.

i'm guessing he means a rectangular tube frame like most cags, i'm also assuming by the big bore and the round tubing he's referring to a L7

Ahh, a newbie,

RSA = Removable Swing Arm
L7 = Lucky 7
BBK = Big Bore Kit, Bottom 3 cylinder finds dont go all the way around
Cag = Chinese Cagllari, a.k.a. Cagliari, Daytona, Minimoto
TTN = Tripple Tapered Needle, Goes in the carby
IP2 = I pee too, ah it's an exhaust pipe
Adjet = An Adjustable jet
SHA = A Dellorto carby
FCC = Fremantle Footbal Club, C'mon you Dockers, Also Full Circle Crank
Bat = A flying creature with little dark beady eyes
47cc = (cag)40.21cc, 40mm Bore, 32mm Stroke
49cc = (cag)48.66cc, 44mm Bore, 32mm stroke, ala BBK (mid) 44mm Bore
49cc = (midbike)??.?? 44mm Bore, ??mm Stroke?
43cc = (midbike)??.?? 40mm Bore, ??mm stroke?

This is probably all written down somewhere else, anyone want to add to it?

LTWNTM- likes the word newbie too much
IKTA- I knew those already..

except for the bat, wasnt sure what those were. BAT on the other hand...

not sure if you were talking to me anyways but just in case, I have seen lots of people refer to the RSA's as L7's just to make it easier I guess, wasnt lucky 7 the first importer to start selling RSA's or something like that?

and Im not claiming to know all about these things cuz I still need your help sometimes.
