axle bolt size?

My friend laid my FF cag down yesterday. Aside from some road rash on the fairing, the rear wheel got dislodged and we lost one axle nut. I went to Home Depot, an auto parts store and 2 bicycle shops - can't find a nut to fit the axle.

Does anyone know what size and thead pitch those nuts are?

Once I find the right size nuts, I'll be doing the nut on each side of the frame mod and new spacers to keep that sucker tight without binding the bearings.

Thanks!

Try the hardware section at Lowes.
Take your bolt with you and go to the metric drawers.

update

Thought I'd update what I learnt in my search for the right axle nut. The Ho Depot and other similar places (at least here in Canada) don't have the right size. Bicycle axles are close, but they're not metric.

The correct size nut is a M10 (that's 10mm) with a 1.0 pitch thread. This is extra-fine (not fine as suggested) which makes it difficult to find. I had to go to two specialty bolt places to get one, and even then they didn't have a nut with a flange like the stock Cag one. I ended up using a washer with a regular nut.

Moral of story - if you stack your bike, try and find that missing nut.
