Re: chain questions

the chains for the cags are the 25h chains. the stock length of them vary (some are shorter and some are longer) all depends on your setup.

Re: chain questions

you have to feel the slack in the chain there is a happy medium. once you tighten the chain wiggle the chain up and down and side to side. this will tell you how much slack (lose or tight) is in the chain. dont tighten the chain too tight cause you will strip out your front sprocket. i have proof of that to. after you set the chain with the motor off take the tire and turn it as fast as you can in both directions. if the chain pops off its too lose. if the chain doesnt pop off you might have the sweet spot or if the tire is hard to turn then you have the chain too tight. a good way to get a bench test on how fast or slow the wheel should turn is by taking the chain off and let the wheel spin freely. when the chain is on the wheel will not spin as fast or as long as it does with out the chain. thats normal.

Re: chain questions

Also if you have your chain too tight, you can actually "sawtooth" the rear sprocket on your bike. I have a gear off a GP RS-R that a kid did exactly that to .... those teeth are razor sharp from the friction against the chain.

Re: chain questions

Easiest way is to get a chainbreaker ... Dave's sells them for $15.00 apiece, and to me, they're worth it. Put in PBP as the coupon code, and get 5% off your order.

Re: chain questions

Yes and no. If you know the correct length to get, yes. If you need to "make your own," then you can order chain by the foot, and use the breaker.
