Dual stage reed review today and tomorow

alright. as some of you may know. i have been having a lot of trouble with this kit. I thought it was the reeds. NO. its my crappy wt603. so i put a different carb on (wyk style) and it worked with the thin reed. then, i added the stiff one to make the complete dual stage. Now keep in mind my bike now is bone stock except for rocket key which really doesnt make a difference. The low end on this kit does not suffer. however, the upper midrange acceleration does, at least for stockers, but anybodyu will be fine because i am stock running 7, 62 gearing which doesnt have good accel to begine with. so i get up to 27 mph fast, thgen since my gearing is so tall it has trouble accelerating from then on...so i went down a SLIGHT hill. i heard my rpms go up to about where they were there highesdt before. that second i think to myself "wheres the powerband?" then it starts to rev HIGHER with a HARD power band. Unfortunately i could only experience that for a second because the street ended. so far my testing is good. tomoro i will put on a 6 tooth pinion so my motor wont be struggling. ill eventualy move up to a 7 tooth when i mod it a lil more. so there will be many more results tomoro but so far so good!

they are fiberglass..they are easy to trim and sand. just snip the corners a lil bit. the only reason i relly couldnt hit the powerband tonight is cuz my gearing was 7 62..with everything stock. i changed to a 6 front this evening ill let you know tomoro. but tonight i did get a lil of the power and boy is it crazy. you hear the rise of rpms wonder when the powers gunna kick in. hold wot and your just like holy crap!

update. i believe i have fuel starvation. im not sure but thats what it seems like. i can give it all the throttle i want EXCEPT for full throttle then it wants to die. like i get up 1-29 easy then i give it full throttle and the engine wants to die. maybe not enough fuel? what do you think? oh and by the way i calculated 10k rpms before this kit. i lifeted the backl wheel up and i can give it full throttle and it revs so high im thinking 11 k

I remember Mega pointing out that the diaphragm carbs get flaky over 10k rpms, something about the diaphragm can't work properly above that rpm. I experienced a similar problem using a wt-668 after switching from a stock pipe to the IP2 pipe, I could adjust the jetting for hours and not get that last bit of top end.

I ordered a set from Tyler @ Adrenaline, if the snow stays away I'll try them with my ported stock carb.

i dunno bout that those kinda carbs go in rc engines that can rev 17k. but anyways i switched to a butterfly style which is much better never tries to die. also i have an update i got most of my problem fixed it has a lil more tuning. i can feel more horsepower in the powerband though! i would get a sidevalve carb but my tank is the same level as my carb so it wouldnt work cuz theyre grtavity feed . also i made the hole in the reeed a lil bigger but that didnt make a difference i thought it would but no...i just have some tuning

Would you reccomend this reed kit over any of the other bolt on reeds? The price intrigues me...

i would most likely recommend this to som one with a ported stcok carb. bigger jets or adjustable main. for the price its very good. i just have to dfo some more tweaking. i can noticably tell the powerband is stronger
