| Re: gp mx3 pocket bike engine help When is it bogging? While you're riding WOT (Wide Open Throttle)? That could be two things:
-not enough fuel
-top end reed flutter.
First problem: not enough fuel. Change the fuel lines to 1/4", do the petcock mod, get an inline fuel shutoff valve.
Second problem: top end reed flutter. This happens when you're riding WOT, and the bike starts to hitch and jerk, stutter and bog. What's happening is this: the reeds in the engine are there to create a seal against the cylinder for your compression. If the reeds are damaged, worn, or simply too thin, at WOT, they're flapping back and forth so fast that they can't create a good seal against the cylinder, resulsting in loss of compression and thus loss of power. By swapping the reeds out for a better set, like carbon fiber or fiberglass, this problem can be elminiated.
(Being a backyard mechanic, I tried another mod on the bike, davation's cheap triple stage reed mod. If you use the search function and look up davation, you'll find it - works very well.) |
