Re: gp mx3 pocket bike engine help

Check your fuel line, make sure there are no kinks in it and the fuel can flow freely to the carb. Also if you have a fuel filter you might want to change it.

Your fuel valve may also be messed up and not letting enough fuel through.

Shawn wins the prize for a sextuple posting ..... Shawn, ya see the little buttons in the right-hand corner? One of them says "Edit" ..... means ya can post, then change it up to 24 hours, instead of making multiple posts ...

Your clutch keeps engaging the drum with no throttle? Turn your idle down ...

You said there's only ONE clip position on the throttle needle? very odd .... there should be five.

Re: gp mx3 pocket bike engine help

When is it bogging? While you're riding WOT (Wide Open Throttle)? That could be two things:
-not enough fuel
-top end reed flutter.

First problem: not enough fuel. Change the fuel lines to 1/4", do the petcock mod, get an inline fuel shutoff valve.

Second problem: top end reed flutter. This happens when you're riding WOT, and the bike starts to hitch and jerk, stutter and bog. What's happening is this: the reeds in the engine are there to create a seal against the cylinder for your compression. If the reeds are damaged, worn, or simply too thin, at WOT, they're flapping back and forth so fast that they can't create a good seal against the cylinder, resulsting in loss of compression and thus loss of power. By swapping the reeds out for a better set, like carbon fiber or fiberglass, this problem can be elminiated.

(Being a backyard mechanic, I tried another mod on the bike, davation's cheap triple stage reed mod. If you use the search function and look up davation, you'll find it - works very well.)
