guys with head kits...

you guys with head kits how reliable would you guys say they are..or how many miles have you guys run on them and was there any performance loss as the miles increased...reason i ask is because i have a scooter with a cag engine. i usually ride long trips with spare gas in my backpack. more speed and accel. would be great which is what a hk can do for me. the thing is i wouldnt want to break down in the middle of my trip or when im farthest from my house.

They are just as reliable as a stock engine as long as you tune it correctly. Only way youll lose performance is if you run the same piston and rings for a really long time, but that goes for any engine.

ok thanks for the reply..i knew that modding any engine that reliablity (sp) of it goes down but didnt know if this would be true with a head kit.

3 things that make a cag unreliable. Bad preparation, bad maintenance, too little oil. Oh, I forgot one more, being Chinese. So that's 4 things.

Re: guys with head kits...

i just ported my own stock head myself, it was quite easy and i gained hell of alot of power from it, i went out and picked up a brand new FF bike and road it down the block once, went home pulled the head off, threw on the stock ported and it made a big difference. i havent really heard anyone having too much problems with aftermarket heads, just sometimes a b*tch to tune
