HF Cag tank mount?

Can anyone post some pictures of how the tank mounts to the frame on a HF cag? Mine is held on my bailing wire which I am sure is not right.

Re: HF Cag tank mount?

Well, could be worse ... ya could be using a great big ol' hose clamp ...

To be perfectly honest, there IS no way to mount the HF Cag gas tank to the stock frame without doing some custom brackets. I use "plumber's tape," or pipe hanger material fromt he hardware store. If you look at the second page of my thread (follow the link in my signature), you'll see how the tank is mounted.

Re: HF Cag tank mount?

I should have been more clear. How dose the factory mount it? Dose it just use the body work between the tank and cap to mount?

Re: HF Cag tank mount?

Yup, that's exactly how it comes from the factory. Honestly, i'd say your baling-wire mount is more sturdy than the original mounting idea .....

I got tired of having to unscrew the gas cap, lift off the body, and then try to keep the tank from falling over whenever I worked on my bike, so I hard-mounted the tank under the body, with a slight tilt towards the rear and the tank barb. It takes a little measuring and experimenting to get the gas tank neck to match up correctly with the hole in the body, but it's a fairly easy mod to do.
