Just place it down in the test path and zoom right by it! It is highly visable when riding past it, especially at night! I highly recommend it to every PB rider, race team, racing org. who is in need to find out their accurate speed readout!!
This little device should be mounted somewhere at every PB race track!! |
I agree with you. I bought this radar for RC's about 4 1/2 years ago and found on the box that it can be used for Go Karts, etc... thought why not
pocketbikes?
as for testing speeds, I think I've almost tried them all!
-Portable Stand Alone Radar (aka non-hand held)
I found this one of the most accurate ways of clocking your speed which uses the same technology as the hand held radars the cops use. uses 6 AA batteries and reads objects within 15 to 20 feet.
-Radar Gun
had a cop friend clock me with his hand held radar, accurate!
-Street Sign Radar (Traffic speed monitor found on the side of the road)
this is the same as the "portable stand alone radar" that I own, its just bigger! accurate!
-Stop Watch Method (timing distance in feet measurements)
had a buddy of mine that used to ride
pocketbikes with me along time ago. found this accurate but there is a give or take with reaction time on the stop watch but close enough!
-Schwinn Speedo
I found this close, if you calculate wheel right and take in to consideration when you sit on the bike the tire isn't its full circumference, plus tire pressure, and all most all cag wheels aren't balanced. its usually about .5 - 1.5 mph off.
-China made speedo found on a stock pocket bike
didn't really mount one on my cag or blata (don't know if there is an actual way?) but I rode next to my friends stock X1. WAY OFF! showed 60mph (the needle was at max) actually going 25mph with a real radar LOL.
-GPS
never tired it with this one... no comment
-Riding beside a moving vehicle or motorcycle
known that a moving vehicle (car/truck/motorcycle) speedometer isn't accurate, give or take 5 to 10 mph and running along with that vehicle side by side is even worse. it isn't a good way to get a consistent speed (IMO) you can claim that speed all you want but wait till you get clocked by a radar!
