inexpensive but quick

I have a gen 2 cag. Have been reading threads in this forum for a while and decided to try some mods.

- ADA .325 reeds
- walbro wt215 carb
- 20ml boost bottle
- advanced ignition coil 8 degrees
- 6/72 gearing
- ngk sprk plug
- finer filter air filter
- 1.5 clutch springs
- 4th bearing kit
- modded stock pipe

All this I done for very little money and a bit of time. The carb i got from the local mower shop secondhand and rekitted it, cost 20$ all up, boost bottle is made from a asma inhaler, advanced the timing by slotting the holes in the coil and modded the stock pipe by cutting 50mm from the header and adding 50mm to the chamber.
I am the heaviest(215lbs) of all my mates with them and can out accelerate and match their top speed easy. Stronly recommend the pipe mod.

Hey man, i don't like the boost bottle size, so what you say? well, I have some software that will maybe make you a better one, tell me what hose size you want to use and i will run it for you. Also, where did you get the 1.5's from in aus? no links just say it. Did you put a timing light on before the coil mod? what degrees was it and how do you know it's 8 degrees?

I am not even sure if the boost bottle works, I understand the theory behind it just doesnt seem to make a difference. BTW I am using 1/8 hose about 20cm long. As for the clutch springs, I tried 1.4 but they didnt seem to make a difference so I gave Carrols springs one spring and got them to make some 15% stiffer, it now engages at around 3750 and gets out of the hole like a rocket. According to my timing light it was at 3 degrees before so I used my Crow degree wheel to advance it. Any more than 8 and it tends to loose too much at the bottom for not much gain at the top.

The timing was 3 Degrees huh? so your engine was firing the spark plug 3 degrees before top dead centre?

Where did you get the 1.4 springs from?

Does the clutch start engaging at 3750rpm or is that when it's fully engaged?

yes the timing was at three degrees, so it makes sense that the piston was firing 3 degrees btdc. i had the springs custom made cause i could not find any suitable, now the clutch starts to drag at 3750 and is all in by around 4100.

a 4th bearing kit is an extra bearing that is housed outside the front sprocket to distribute the load more evenly

a 20ml boost tube is the same as 20c. on a single it really needs to be as close to 48.6 (in my case) as possible. lets see those TSR numbers if I use 3/16" ID tubing, 6" in length... thanks blah

EDIT -- I just figured out a great place to mount a bottle using the silencer support on the IP2 after i chopped the silencer down. I'll post pics when I get around to making one). Will I even see results on a cylinder this small?
