Make Your Head Kit Work Correctly!!!

So, As most of you guys know...I can't seem to keep my hands off of Cag heads! This is a great little post to answer a few questions that seem to come up often about chinese made "ported" head kits.

A few members on here asked me if i could take a look at their head kit that they recently purchased. (this one happens to be the HKmotos ADA copy) The member said that his cag actually ran worse with this kit than his with the stock head. He asked me if I could "fix it" and here is the result.

-First the exhaust port, The HKmotos cylinder was machined very poorly. It was very rough and uneven. The port duration was untouched as well.
I raised the port roof and blended the entire exhaust port. Thankfully it was savable.

--Second the boost port, The HK cylinder has what suggest a boost port but based on the overall dimensions of the attempt would do little to nothing for power gains. I re-machined My Stage 2 boost port down the cylinder wall and the again was easily savable. Now the reworked HK kit was spec'd correctly and machined much better to allow REAL power gains!

-Third, compression! I was shocked when I measured the HKmotos squish setting! The squish measured in at a WHOPPING 2.4mm!!!!!
Sure the ad say's 14:1 compression but they don't tell you that the squish is way off. The compression at this spec would be more like half what they advertise. I removed the cylinder from the lower case I use to spec cylinder height and removed a full 2mm from the top of the cylinder. Most guys believe that a .5 squish setting is set in stone. I like a setting of .35-.4 squish. I cut the cylinder a little short because when the engine heats up the cylinder (and copper gasket) will grow a bit which will give you .45-.5 squish warmed up!

-So what does this all mean...Well, I you guys buy chinese "ported" head kits and they don't work...you can fix them! Don't give up they just need a bit of work to almost triple the power output!

One thing you guys should know...There are 3,4,and 5 port kits being sold. The very best cylinder design is a 3 port kit period! 4 port cylinders are workable but will never make the power of a 3 port! 5 port cylinders would be best used for an aquarium fish habitat, gangster necklace charm and so on....

I hope this thread will help people be better educated about all the "ported head kits" being sold as the end all!

Here are some pics that show a stock HK ada copy and a reworked version......

Thanks guys and always be safe!
