My cag is impossible to start

Hey there i own a Giovanni m3 and its almost impossible to start like the ratio is about 100:1 which is 100 pulls to get it started once and even then it wont stay running. Ive had so many problems with this it use to leak gas so i opened up the whole carb and checked it out and i fixed it.
Okay well when i first got it i started it, it started within like 30 pulls and stayed running the thing is a blast to ride and its fast also but its just such a pain in the butt starting it i dont know whats wrong i checked the spark plug and it seems fine like i pull and i pull and it starts like once every 100 pulls or sometimes it would do this thing where after like 50 pulls it starts once then it might die or stay running and it will start up again next pull then it takes like 100 pulls to start it again i have no clue whats wrong HELP!

Re: My cag is impossible to start

i had the same problem as u before..after startin it a few time, it sseem almost inpossible to start it again..later i found out that one of the electrical is wedged between the fin of the cyclinder..as the bike start up, it melted the insulation, causing it to short circuit which in turn cause a great pain on ur arm..so in my opinion, check to see if u have the same problem as i do..make sure it's not short circuit.

Are you giving it gas when you pull. give it a quick twist and no more, also, whats your gas mixture.

Sounds lean. Try and richen it up.

Check your fuel filter to see if its cloged.

Re: My cag is impossible to start

well you might have several things going on with your bike.
1. You may need to remove the carb and do a complete clean job.
2. Your using cheap 2 smoke oil and using inconsistant fuel/oil mix. If you don't have the mix-rite cup go get one trust me it's worth it and you may be using watered down fuel so replace it with fresh fuel if needed.
3. What color is your plug tan, brown, black, or white/greyish? If your bike is running to rich fudge brown or black then you should replace it. It's ok to run rich but not to rich it just fouls the plug. Keep in mind the weather has changed so this cold air will cause the bike to run a bit rich so you may want to lean out a touch.
4. Check your bas gasket to see if oil is leaking around the bottom of the cylinder if so replace it.
5. Check you intake gaskets this will cause hard starting. Your carb gasket may be shot or the intake manifold itself has a crack from vibration.
6. check your spark as the coil may be bad.
7. last if your able to pull the pull start with very little resistance then I would check the rings..
Hope all this helps it did for me.

Re: My cag is impossible to start

I doubt it's your plug if you see no spark. It sounds like a coil problem if you can't get any spark. It might be that the coil to flywheel is not gapped properly causing a very weak spark. Try spacing the coil to the flywheel with a business card. If you have to much space between the two, it will give you ignition problems. If you still have no spark after that, get a new coil.

Re: My cag is impossible to start

Ok, first you take off your pull start box, then you should see the flywheel, and to the top right of the flywheel, you should see a small blackish box, thats the coil. (Atleast this is how you get to it on my bike) And you can check your gap with a gapping tool, and measuring the point(s) on the coil to the magnet on the flywheels magnetos. (This is what I did, once again, it could be different on others) Hope this helps.

I don't really remember all that well, but I think when you loosen those screws, it slides forwards & backwards... And I didn't need to re gap mine, but I thought I did, but some debris was stuck on the magnet from the factory.
And I just gapped my plug by eye with a knife lol, but it works great.

Re: My cag is impossible to start

NOOO!!!! Not the fins, I didn't have to gap, so I would ask someone else about that lol. I've never personally heard of the buisnesscard "trick" it probably works though... THE FINS ARE FOR COOLING PERPOSES ONLY! Like when people break them off for a "Lightend Flywheel" they are making there bike run hotter. (if its air cooled) I wasn't screwing around with the knife though, I am skilled with knives ) good luck dude!

Re: My cag is impossible to start

Ok gap it like this not with a knife thats not the right way.. Ok get a buisness card cut it in half to make a little scrip. Then Put it on the magnet on the flywheel and on the magnet on the coil they should try to go toghter threw the card then tigthen them and pull the card out and spin the flywheel if it spins good then put the starter back on and try to fire it up.. If not then its not gaped right.. But let me ask this are you getting a spark? When you put the spark plug in the boot and on the head of the motor do you see a nice blue spark? If not then thats could be your problem but i did not read all the replys in your thread..

Re: My cag is impossible to start

Oh yeah, and don't forget to I think it grounds it. (or whatever when you hold the plug up to a metal part, I used the swingarm or whatever its called on the frame) to check for a spark
Ps. I used a knife on the spark plug, and nothing else, a proper tool is recommended, unless you have succeeded in the past with a knife.
Are you priming your bike enough? (cold start) Are you sure you aren't taking off the choke to early, if so let it warm up while its idling normally. Then take off the choke and rev to see if it dies or not...

Re: My cag is impossible to start

Oh ok, the first 1&1/2 hrs. of running, my was a pain... to start also! Also the magnets are not on the fins, but on the side of the flywheel they are shiney also. But did you ground your spark plug on the frame when you pull to see a spark. Its easier if you get someone to pull the start while you hold it, and watch for a spark.

Re: My cag is impossible to start

hmm then theres a problem.. OK do this put the spark plug in the boot like it is in the motor then put the plug on the head you know on the motor fins then pull the cord slowly and see if you see ablue spark? OK on the flywheel theres are like some magnet thing keep turning it under you see them.. Well do this you see the fins look in the little goove on the side of them and keep turning it until you see the magnets on the flywheel it is on the side were the little black box 2 magnects are. Try to find the magnets and what what i said with the buisness card
