Need Carb. Mod. Ideas for X18R 19mm Carb?

Guys,
I am starting on Mods. on my stock carb., I just ordered a Jet Kit & 24mm
Intake Manifold! I have tried searching but can't find anything or photos?
My plan is to Taper Bore the front & rear of the Carb., match the Intake
Manifold to back of carb, Bore the Front as much as I think is safe, & I'm
working on a V-stack & have HP filter already!! I plan to start w/ .83 Jet
and go from there!!! ANY GOOD IDEAS, or Places to Look?? EPR!

Re: Need Carb. Mod. Ideas for X18R 19mm Carb?

I must of posted the same pics below about 100 times or more and have posts about modding the stock carb....

The reason why Ive never posted a thread is because the majority consensus of the forum says to spend money and change the carb first and that the mods do nothing....Glad to see someone else willing to save money on cheap chinese crap and take a chance first......

First mod is disassembling the carb totally and porting the carb mount flange to 21.92mm's-22mm's[pic#2] and removing the speedbumps from the carb inlet area and opening it up..[no pic..too blurry]

Second mod is drilling the brass carb inlet tube opening 1 size up with a drillbit..be careful to drill straight and to blow out the fuel inlet passage thoroughly of all metal chips[pic too blurry too]

Third mod is manually opening up the 20 small crossflowholes up with a small safety pin.[pic3]

Fourth mod is the float restrictor tab removal mod..Remove the square casting tab from the floatbowl bottom with a dremel..[pic 4 and 5]

Fifth mod is porting the plastic isolator to match the carb mount flange hole..[pic too blurry]

The best homemade V-stack can be made from 1-1/4-1-1/2" PVC pipe ends..I used a razor knife and sandpaper to shape the inner lip and I RTV'd it directly to the carb inlet....I did away with the filter and went with a stainless screen but a foam afilet with an inlet opening of 38-40 mms will work too[last pic]

You can also save yourself some loot by porting the stock intake too......Peace

All this China Junk can be turned in to a Fine Tuned Machine, w/ alittle
elbow grease!! A Big Big Carb. is not going to make it faster, jetting & Adj.
& Clean Air Flow & a Good Exhaust, & Tuning Will!!
I had the 24mm Intake aready so, I am going to use it, I have 1/4 or
5/16" fuel line plastic & filter to replace the rubber ones!!
I like that V-stack, the outer tube, is that a breather to the tank???
I can do All those Mods. I plan to buy a $ 160 New 110cc Eng. and Trans. next summer and build a Monster Motor!! I would like to find a.....
137cc Kit, seen a 160cc but you have to split the Cases & Disassemble!!!!
Want to port & polish the head, high duration cam., bigger Carb. High.....
Squish, etc. I like the muffler on my 110cc ZX1 extreme dirt bike & could

Re: Need Carb. Mod. Ideas for X18R 19mm Carb?

Youre absolutely right about reworking a majority of the stock midbike parts and modding the bike so you get the truest potential out of it even some bolt-ons cant acheive.........I mostly replace the electronics only unless I mod the engine so wickedly it cannot run on the stock components even with them fully modded

The tube going into the V-stack is coming from the homemade headbreather kit thats tee'd into the rear evac port ,plumbed around and hooked into the v-stack...the hbk helps suck the trapped heat and pressure out of the head earlier to keep the valves and oil running cooler aswell as aid engine spool up..Without it the trapped heat has to build up to pressure out into the crankcase through a small diameter hole in the head and cylinder, then that heat has to pass through the crankcase where it meets up with the heat of the crank ,gears, shafts and clutch pack adding to the thermal heat stress that thins oil and creates friction and more heat...My engines dropped 25 degrees after adding the kits and gained good unyielded spool-up revs even on my full auto X-22...

If you know how to regrind camshafts you can take the stock one out and rework that too..All you need to do is flatten out the sloped humps going to the top of the lobe profile on the intake and the exhaust to get the valves to slam open instead of softly opening and shutting...The swift action creates alot of intake demand and pulls a super dense charge into the cylinder and increases exhaust scavenging to produce the most power you can get out of a 110cc.The next best thing to add is a high compression piston to it after the bike has been maxxed out on mods.....

Re: Need Carb. Mod. Ideas for X18R 19mm Carb?

The headbreather kit is simple to make but youll need a swivel adapter to use as a spacer for under the carb to raise it up because the pic of the velocity stack is on my X-15.On the X-18 there was barely enough room for the bigazz foam filter I used..i had to cut 1" off the rubberr inlet mount on the filter to get it to fit in the space alotted...my spacer I put under the carb was only 1/4".They go as thick as 10mm's but I would stick with the thinner spacer......pics of the install on my X-18 are below

http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/w...e/100-0022.jpg

http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/w...e/100-0076.jpg

I drilled and tapped the upper cap for a gold plated coaxial cable butt connector because its small, compact and very effective for the tight spacing..I drilled out the nylon and metal terminal core and used 5 minute metal epoxy to secure it and seal it into the cap....Theres a short and long side with a divider nut...the shorter side threads into the cap and the longer side is for the hose..

When I ran my line I ran it high up over the battery tray to the rear evac port..I took the black hose thats hooked to the stock airfilter box cut it to 5"-6" long and added a 1/4" brass Tee and hooked both together and ran the hose forward up to the back of my competition foam airfilter that I modded with a 1/4" brass nipple and a jamb nut through one of the heart shapes on the back...

As far as oil coolers ..they are good units when they arent loosening up and leaking oil out of your engine...You cant really give the bolts a good cranking unless you want to ruin the cooler or the fittings and regular inspection is also key...........

To keep your fuelline airbubble free drill the straight fuel nipple out of the fueltank and drill and tap it for a 1/4" or 5/16" 90 degree brass elbow.I used 3/8".You can seal the threads with Permatex 5 min plastic weld.......

Re: Need Carb. Mod. Ideas for X18R 19mm Carb?

You should run the exhaust like I ran it on my X-181 Naked streetfighter bike. The D-section knockoff exhaust cost 45.00 with free shipping on ebay and is 2mm bigger diameter than the stock headpipe..The only real problem I had with the flow of the stock X-18 exhaust was the muffler being heavily choked until I modded it and wrapped the pipe to flow the spent gasses out faster when they stay heated.........Peace

Re: Need Carb. Mod. Ideas for X18R 19mm Carb?

Dude,
I'm back, yeh when I got my X18, I took off the Tuned Air System, with the hoses, its in my Bike storage box!! You reminded me when I got my
custom HP Air Filter it would Not Fit cause of The Frame, and I call the
store, and the guys telling me, it fits, I went OFF and he Hung Up, so I
got a 90% one it works Good, but, With the exh. & air I need more gas!
That's how I got started on this carb. Mod. Trip!! I used the 1st one &
put it on my dirt bike!!
I am trying to find a Real Small Turbo used, taking it apart machining..
down the Fins on the OutPut Side, and adjust it w/ a Pressure Gate or
pop-off Valve!! I just want to Pump It Up Alittle Bit!!
I am going to mount the Oil Cooler on Vibration washers, metal-neoprm.
put the neo together & mount, plus Med. Loc-Tite, I believe will work, &
I always check my Bolts, etc. before I ride!!
Oh before I forget, I want a Wider Taller Tire on the Front of the X18,
any Ideas??? I hate the Wimpy little tire you get, I keep looking at the
back Tire & Rim ang go, no it won't Fit,Dude!!
Also, I use 104 octane boost, 1 2/3 oz. per Gal., It turns 91 to about
96 oct. but I am calling the Local Air Port to see if I can buy, some 100+
fuel!! 104, has a Top Oil, good for your valve guides, and I use ALL the
Power my Eng. Has!! Got to Go! EPR!

Re: Need Carb. Mod. Ideas for X18R 19mm Carb?

Better race gas mix for 4 strokes.....93 premium with 20% toluene mix and 3 ounces of lead substitute per gallon...Homemade race fuel...lol...You could also get E-85.Its equivelent to about 102 octane..

Turbo units from the Yamaha PWC's will work aswell as the turbo units from a small 2 cylinder diesel Kubota tractor.Alot seek the elusive RHB-31.Youll get better gains from a wetshot nitrous system...

For the front tire I went with the 90/90-10 Pirelli SL-26...Youll have to raise the tire fender up a notch and use thin tywraps to secure the upper holes so the fender dont flop forward..

For the rear tire i went with the Kenda K-413 size 130/70-10 on my X-15 and the X-18 stuntbike has the same Pirelli front tire with stock rear tire with inner tube.........Peace

Cam2,
Where do you get toluene, & Whats the Name of the Lead Sub. you use?
Yeah, that front Pirelli sounds Good!! Sounds like a $ 180 tire, but I got to get something bigger around & wider!! I still like the $ 295 Nos Wet Kit
at PBU.com, and it is designed for 4 stroke 50cc-110cc X18, I ride to town and back 3.5 miles each way, its like the Wild West, 2010!! Thats
why I want the Oil Cooler, cause nos will make the Eng. run Hotter!!!!!!!
The turbo thing will not happen if I Like the Nos, but I wrote down the info to put in my X18 folder, Thanks Alot!! Got the racing springs for my
Cag. 47cc bike, which will be the 2 Eng. Drag Bike, I have the frame draw-
ing I made a few months ago! Photo bucket says you can see my photos.

The 133a will work too[-60 - +1600 degrees]..Another good thing to use is silicone based di-electric tune-up grease...

Re: Need Carb. Mod. Ideas for X18R 19mm Carb?

Cam2,
Thanks guy, it's been raining 3 days Now, & I am waiting for a break next..week, so I can take the carb. off, going to look at the jets again. Somewhere here, a guy was talking about gage drills at a hobby shop??
I believe the carb. or etc. was sucking air from the first day I got it, it has
always been starved for fuel, and both rubber seals looked flat, I used RTV silicon on the Eng. to Manifold, but nothing on the spacer/carb seals!
This time I am going over it w/ a fine tooth comb!! Thanks Again! EPR!

You can get Toluene at any local hardware store and also HomeDepot /Lowes..It costs roughly 8 bucks a gallon can.....You can use a 20% mix...The way I do it is pour 20% from the gallon and replace what was subtracted with toluene to make a whole again....The lead substitite comes in a bottle similar to Gunk fuel injection cleaner except it says "Lead Substitute".3-4 ounces of lead substitute will work good.....1 gallon of toluene and 1 bottle of lead substitite will make 4.25 gallons of race fuel.....

My Pirelli front tire cost me roughly $20 bucks...I got 2 Pirellis and 2 Kenda tires for a little under $120.00 with 2 day priority shipping from Motorcycle Superstore when they were having a blowout sale........

When you remove the carb to inspect the spacer also check the spacer for cracks.....
