??? Running rich is bad, it is bad for performance and bad for the engine. I have had to rebuild many engines that ran rich because of carbon build up in the head and because of carbon buildup on the rings which caused them to stick.
Running lean does not lock up your piston but it will build so much heat over time that the piston will expand too much and can seize in the bore.
Moral of the story is that the fuel has to be at the perfect ratio for optimum performance and don't let people tell you otherwise.
