Re: Pocketbike choke problem

Happen to know what bike it is? Cagllari?

Might be your throttle needle is too low, and you need to bump it up a notch. That round piece where the throttle cable goes into the carb? Unscrew that, and carefully pull everything out. UInderneath is the return spring, the throttle slide (the cylinder) and the throttle needle. Disconnect the cable from the slide, and VERY CAREFULLY pull the needle out. There is a tiny c-clip on one of five positions on the needle - DO NOT LOSE THIS CLIP!! (A cookie sheet with paper towels works good for keeping small parts handy and from rolling away to be lost forever on your garage floor.) Use a pair of needlenose pliers to change the position of the clip up/down, then reinstall in the throttle slide and reattach the cable.

When reinstalling, there is a small cut-out on one side of the throttle slide, and a long groove on the other. The cut-out side goes on the side where the idle screw is. (Otherwise, if you reverse this, you will fire the bike up under full throttle, and better hope you have a REAL good grip on it ....) Put the slide back down into the carb, and screw the cap back on, adjusting the throttle cable if necessary.

Re: Pocketbike choke problem

ya i forgot to mention that when the choke is all the way down it will stall unless i give it alot of throttle
when it is like half way for example - i give it half throttle and itll go but when i give it full throttle it will give out

i turn the knob so the gas will flow and it will also leak out from the line/ the overflow line

Re: Pocketbike choke problem

spyguy it might not even be that complicated lol.
prodominator did you try adjusting your air/fuel mixture screw and your idle screw? you might be running to lean or too rich. on your carb there is a flathead screwdriver screw. turn that all the way in and then 2 1/2 turns out, and see if that will help.

Re: Pocketbike choke problem

the air/fuel mix. screw is the flathead screw that has a spring on it. just turn it all the way in, not too tight, and turn it back 2 1/2 turns and keep tuning from there.
what bike do you have btw?

Re: Pocketbike choke problem

im not sure what kind of bike it is but im pretty sure its a 47cc pocketbike

my cousin gave it to me and ive been trying to get it to run nicely

can u b more specific on the location of the air/ fuel mixture screw?
is it on the carb? or... i see where the idle screw is and the choke

do i have to remove anything to get to it?

p.s im pretty sure its running lean because it sounds like its not getting enough fuel

Re: Pocketbike choke problem

it's either a vacuum leak, your carb needs cleaned, or maybe you cracked a reed.

pull the carb, disassemble and clean, make sure all gaskets are in good shape, inspect the reeds while you have it all apart.
