porting the head...question!

hi all
im about to port my 49cc head , and was just looking for some confirmation before i begin....

with the transfer ports... do i just gring 1 to 2mm off the corner (side) with a less angle i.e the corner furthest from the exhaust port?? And therefore leave the rest alone.

With the exhaust port... Do i just open the piston side of the port? or carry the grinding all the way through to where the pipe meets the head? I ask because it looks as if i would grind through the metal if i carried a 2 or 3mm raise throught the port.

I hope u can understand my questions, and yes i have done searches and read the FAQ / How-to, its just that id like some more info so i dont stuff my head!

Anyone got photos of a before and after?????

Thanks for any info
jamie

if you know what youre doing you can port the transfers..Also with an exhaust like the ip2 you can change the angle of the transfers as well but dont do it unless you really know what you are doing. pm me if you want more info

Porting....

Don't touch the transfers.....they are cast in a shape that best charges air and fuel to the combustion chamber. I have ported my own heads and the transfer ports are STOCK and un touched. My head made 14680 un loaded RPM!! I'll give you the low down and pics just email me.

Thx!

the transfers could still stand to be raised slightly, even on my BB with the stroker crank and shim, I'm only getting like 122* of duration, could be better
