Question Question about Big Bore kit

If I buy a 44mm big bore kit for my FF 47cc Cag will I have to buy anything else in order for the big bore kit to work? Would it be ok to have the big bore kit and a 6 tooth pinion and a 47 tooth rear sprocket or should I stick with the 6 tooth pinion and stocke (68 tooth) rear sprocket?

Re: Question about Big Bore kit

Also, would I need to rejet the carb at all? When i install it will it work with the 47 tooth rear sprocket fine? And I won't need to buy any new manifold, will i?

Re: Question about Big Bore kit

Your going to need a jet kit for sure. Your new BB kit will require more fuel. You can get away without it but your motor may cut out on the top end from fuel starvation. You don't need to worry about the manifold...

Re: Question about Big Bore kit

The 47 tooth sprocket is gonna be a mutha to pull. You'd need to start off rolling down a big hill or become anorexic, even then you'd have to run and jump on it to get moving. In other words, it will take along time to hit top speed, however you'd be zipping along. I'd stick with stock gearing (68).

Re: Question about Big Bore kit

I got this for recreational use, and their are a lot of LONG, STRAIGHT sections near me (my private driveway is like 1/2 mile long), that's why I was gonna put on the 47 tooth sprocket. About how long will it take me to reach top speed? like 15-30 seconds?

Re: Question about Big Bore kit

I'm not sure if you understand the correlation between horsepower, drag coefficients and terminal velocity. Basically it doesn't matter how you gear your bike, ultimately, your top speed is going to the same for a given horsepower regardless how tall the gearing is. Unless you gear it way too low and run out of revs first. If you gear it too tall you will never pull a higher top speed because of mechanical drag and wind resistance.

I knew that it wouldn't be benifical. I didn't know the physics side of it, thanks for clearing that up.

Re: Question about Big Bore kit

First of all, I'm not gonna have to use any clutches but the stock one junny. I am a recreation rider. I just have to beat my girlfriend's brother. His gearing setup has a 47tooth in the back and 6 in the front and he can haul a lot quicker than my stocker 6 tooth 68 tooth setup. Secondly, thanks to bike mad yank for clearin the physics of it up. What kit should I buy to re-jet the carb?

Re: Question about Big Bore kit

according to minimoto speed calculator ,i'm not saying that you cant use that gearing but the numbers dont lie ,with a front 6 pinion 47 rear sprocket you can reach 51.7 mph but this mean that the engine would have to rev over 12,000 rpms and have monster power to keep it and as long as i had ben a pocket bike planet member i havent seen or hear anyone acomplice that you must have one heck of engine and one hell of a clutch set up . check minimotogarage.com and check for your self.
