questions on del rep 14/14

I just got my del rep from ddm, and i have a couple questions. Firstly, I haven't installed it yet, but assembled the throttle cable and no matter what i do, i cannot get the slide to travel all the way up, (its still covering about 1/4 of the hole at full throttle). Also, what is with the locking choke? Is there a button somewhere that will let you switch it on and off?

ok, i figured out that you have to put side pressure to unlock the choke, but what about the slide not going all the way up? Ive tried it with the idle screw all the way in and out...

you sure that the cable is fixed into the slide properly? that can sometimes stick out and snag if its not snug.

the choke is designed so that you flick it on, then twist the throttle all the way open to switch it off

The slide doesn't go all the way up.

Yah, I found after an hour or so of searching that you have to sand of some of the slide off in a half moon shape, is it worth doing or just leave it? I have the tools to perform this mod

I would try and adjust the cable adjusters at both ends of the cable. If you sand or grind the slide all your got to do is make it idle real fast or even jack up the carb all together. That mod goes into the bone head mod section

i believe you are wrong sir, think about it... if the bore is NOT completely open, could you be losing a VERY small bit of performance and power??? will a bore thats not completely open flow more air than one that is? i believe it wont. ive done the mod and NO it does NOT mess with the idle, if done properly, or mess with the carb other than having a COMPLETELY open bore at WOT.

Re: questions on del rep 14/14

it will be easy enough to alter the slide, but on my 15mm rep it opens up fully no problem which was why i thought that the cable just needed adjusted.

Re: questions on del rep 14/14

I would take StrayDawg63's approach and try to correct the issue through the cable before modding the carb. The carb is designed to open fully. If it isn't, then either the throttle isn't set up/adjusted correctly, or the carb has a defect.

If the carb is already jacked up, then give 'er hell with the mod.

Is this carb better then say a race ported one or a jetted one? Maybe the best for the price?

I have had both and I personally like the del rep over my race ported. It seems like I have to mess around with the stock one more, but the dell just goes and never leaks or anything. about the same price.

Re: questions on del rep 14/14

Well I just clocked it on on gps. it is running 34.5mph. That is without my pipe on it though and running 4 teeth lower than stock gear. I still got to finish a lot of stuff on it though. The race ported carbs are smaller than the del reps, but if you bore the race ported carb as big or a little bigger than the del rep than it would be better because it is more fine tunable all around. i just like the del rep cuz you just slap it on and it runs just fine. But if you want to fine tune top just order the race ported with the jet pack. I think it is like 38 bucks or something.
