Questions Questions Questions..

Hi, I just tried my CAG bike today for the first time. Mixed 20ml of very good 2 stroke oil with 500ml of 92 unleaded fuel and added this into the fuel tank. The bike started with 3 strokes of pull without choke on and gosh it sure vibrates quite alot! (is that normal???)....There was this burning smell that comes out from the exhaust....(is that normal???) And I actually let the bike idled for about 30 seconds before riding it. My first question.....I weigh in at around 185 pounds which is more to the heavy side. However, the Bike does not seem like it has enough horse power...I am using a ZH-1 engine and the bike does not really seem to go fast at all....Is it because its not broken in yet?? Also, when I let go of the throttle, you can feel resistance....resistance in the sense that the bike will not roll forward too far and I gotta pump the throttle again. Is it because my brakes are dragging???

Also, how many tanks of fuel should I run to break in my cag? What is the best fuel/oil mixture I should use??? Is adding too much oil in an oil fuel mixture a big problem?? WIll it slow down the bike??? Also, why is there a slight burning smell coming from the exhaust??

G'day mate, most of the answers should be in the How to section:

39 & 47cc CAG FAQ <-- READ TO AVOID PROBLEMS!

185lbs isn't that heavy, smelly exhaust isn't that unusual but check if around for melting plastic, ie fuel tank and filter, vibrations are typical but after you have gone over the bolts it may be better, It will get a bit faster but you have you go through the checklist in the how-to's to fix a few bugs first. I usually only take it easy for a tank or two, these things are so sloppy inside there really isn't a need for an extended run in period, just my opinion.

edit: I think Vbp6us and the guys in the credits have done a great job on that faq, i should sell it on ebay

20 ml oil added to 500 ml fuel creates a 1:25 mixture which is in my opinion just right for breaking the bike in.
Your weight is not really a problem as most cags (at least the quality ones) are built for loads above 210 lbs. Vibration is a thing that should not be ignored. My cag does only vibrate at top speed. You should check all welded joints for possible cracks, tighten all bolts and nuts (especially around the engine).

You should also check your brakes and chain tension. The front wheel should spin freely with only a minor scraping sound coming from the brake. This indicates that the bearings are ok and the brake is well adjusted.
The rear wheel has got a lot more resistance to spinning due to the tension of the chain and the small pinion at the clutch drum.
Chain tension is set right if you can move it up or down about 4-5mm in the middle between the front and rear pinion. If this is not possible, the tension is too big and causes a lot of resistance while riding or letting it roll out. Also you need to check if the rear axle is bent or not aligned correctly. Look at the chain from behind the bike and check if there is a crook where it leaves the pinion.

Fuel:
Use premium fuel and mix it with semi-synthetic high quality 2 stroke oil. This is for break-in only and should only be done for the first 2-4 tank fillings.
Then you should switch to a 1:40 mixture (25 ml oil per litre of fuel) with synthetic 2 stroke oil.

My Cag vibrates quite alot. When placed on the stand after starting the engine, the stand would actually move together with the bike due to the vibrations.....I don't know why. Also, the bike feels like it lacks power. I had to turn the throttle to medium high then bring it back down and accelerate again to actually go faster.....Also, on a 30 degrees gradient slope, the bike actually could not manage to accelerate up......Btw, I already added a REV unlimited tuned pipe to the bike hoping to boost the performance...

It vibrates even if the throttle is not pulled?
Maybe you should check your clutch if there's anything wrong, like a broken spring.

Check your engine mounts for breakage or missing bolts.

I checked and found that the side of the engine where the pinion is located has a small hole located and the small hole kinda goes down deep into the clutch area.....the hole has thread which means there should be a screw in it right???
