i know this is old but i would think itll be a waste to make a new thread for a simple answer.

will the torquer 5port head kit come with two piston rings or one or none.

It comes with 2 rings. You can run one ring if you wish, just make sure it's on the top gudgeon.

Just finished reading the review and I must say that it got my interest up. So, I went to BAT's site again and looked around a bit. I have a RSA cag and two HFs (one of the HFs belongs to mrsposer) and have been planning upgrades starting with the RSA. I purchased a ported BBK from BAT a little while back and have been planning my other upgrades but haven't had a chance to actually DO anything yet. I had been planning on a pipe, porting the stock carb and possibly a 4-petal reed cage to go with my ported BBK. The I read this and see that BAT has the stage 3 upgrade kit which includes about everything I was wanting.

Problem is, I plan on upgrading my RSA first and the kit comes with an IP2 pipe. I know some have modified it to work with the RSA cags but I don't want to bother and was already planning on getting a Jetpro Hi-rev. Basically, I want the kit minus the IP2. Of course, I was also planning on boring my own stock carb, so I don't really need that either.

Chris, I know that the kit is a package deal but I'm wondering if there are any variations available on what it includes? Basically, I would like everything in the stage 3 kit except the pipe and carb. of course, getting the carb would save me the trouble of porting mine but I really have no use for the pipe at all. Best case would be if you handle the Jetpro pipes. Then I would take the whole stage 3 kit with the Jetpro Hi-rev.

I also noticed that you offer a stage 2 reed cage that uses the 2-stage reeds but this is not offered in the stage 3 upgrade kit. Is there any real advantage to using the 2-stage reeds? Is it possible to add this to the package? Yeah, I'm being a pain in the azz but you can always just tell me to F off.
GREAT review BTW!

yeah dude just shoot me an email and we will work something out. I only include one piston ring now cause if you run two the bottom will catch on one of the boost ports. Stage two 4 petal includes two one piece .5mm reeds instead of two stage

Do the .5 reeds work better then the two stage reeds?

Ok Chris, thanks. I'll give it some more thought on exactly what I want to do and what direction I want my mods to take. I've been so busy at work lately that I haven't even had the time to take my third cag out of the box yet . I bought it on a whim and had planned to upgrade the RSA 'cause it seems to be of much better quality than Mrsposer's HF. But then again, I may mod the HF instead. The one thing that I like better about her HF over my RSA is the front brake. Her F/brake is really stout compared to the RSA. I'm trying to get that sorted first. I tried mounting a lever assembly form my Mnt bike and it helped a little but still not anywhere good enough. The HF has a different caliper with more pad surface area so I'm trying to figure out a way of mounting that type of caliper to my RSA cag. I guess I should start a thread about brake upgrades and see if anyone has solved this particular problem. If I can get my brakes up to snuff then I'll be set to start the mods but if I can't get happy with the brakes I may decide to upgrade the HF instead. Of course I need to get this decided before I start ordering parts.

Like I said earlier, I had planned on using the BB before reading this thread but this sounds more promising. Have you ever tried using this head on the BB cylinder? I would like to have a more even spread of power rather than an all top-end screamer with no bottom end. I would be willing to sacrifice all out top-end performance for a more evenly distributed gain throughout the rev range. Any ideas? And again what about the 2-stage reeds with the reed cage? Any negatives associated with this?

Sorry to be such a pain with all the questions but I've been reading all I can in an effort to figure out exactly what makes these things tick and to develop a game plan that will suit my needs.

Anybody tried this whole kit? any comments either here or PM would be welcome.

Kinda worried about the THREE boost ports and longevity/reliability. Any problems with removing so much material from the thrust face area of the cylinder wall? And about using only one ring, any problems there?

The common misconception is that more displacement always equals more power which isnt true. Your engine needs air fuel and spark to produce power and obviously bringing in more of each variable makes more power. Lets say a big bore at 10k rpm brings in x amount of air/fuel. Take a 39cc motor and add say 4k rpms and you have near the same volume or more. Now obviously down low you will not have the low end grunt but torque is for fat people and for everyone else there is adjustable clutches i bet bleh will like that one

I just trimmed a little off and the IP2 clears fine. There was no need to flip it.

I need to flip it because I am using a modified Polini "dirt bike" pipe which locates over the right side.

The coil wires are removable. I was able to unscrew it and install a longer one.

Note, I have found that the provided head studs have poor undersize threads and are real soft. Stripped out after torquing to only 10 lbs.
