Yea I think it will look great as a front wheel on your trike. I would also buy some for my cag but whoa those things are expensive .

Re: something different part II 3 wheel cag

well i hav a few in progress
i got a reverse trike that waaaayyy to dangerous (in process of making more fun to ride)
a little mini bike that i frankensteined up to the rear of a go kart
but that was just to test my new welder
and the coolest least completed build is my soon to be mini T-rex either using the front of a shifter kart frame i have or from stock tube steel. the latter would cost more but would give more creative freedom

YouTube - pocket stuhl in werther

All that is needed is a roll cage and a steering wheel, then it's a mini T-rex!

Re: something different part II 3 wheel cag

Actually, I'm looking at building something like that, 013137 ...... Wouldn't be too hard, just getting the front end put together. The seat is just a cheap stadium seat mounted on top of a pb frame, although you could build a custom frame for it.

Doc, let's see your Frankentrike.

Re: something different part II 3 wheel cag

i was thinking about the whole reverse trike thing, and was thinking what about if u bought a pocket quad(the 4 wheel cag), and make a new swingarm for the back that would allow only 1 wheel?

Blind, it CAN be done. Cut both bikes in half, and make one a reverse trike and the other a regular trike. I just saw a YouTube video where a guy did exactly that with a quad and a scooter.

Re: something different part II 3 wheel cag

i can totaly understand what you mean doc about rolling. my trike is realy bad about that . i cant imagine how bad a reverse trike would be i dont even know if i want to build one now . i may just put a few more dollars into this trike and make it super tight instead of puting $ into something that is a death trap

Re: something different part II 3 wheel cag

You could put a wider wheel in the front just like you did in the back and that would help with rolling.

Re: something different part II 3 wheel cag

ehhh you just hav to design a good stance for the vehicle. also front suspension determines whether of not ur turnin on two wheels or three.

i put a pic up on spys radical rides thread of my RT. it goes bout 40ish but cant turn at more than a crawl in fear of flipping. its scary fun

Re: something different part II 3 wheel cag

no . you have to get go kart hubs and have you some spacers made to adapt the hubs to the axle it is actualy very simple if you want i can send you a link to the kart hubs but you will have to ur local machine shop make spacers

Re: something different part II 3 wheel cag

Benefield, nice job on your trike. Here's a thought for you: is the rear swingarm adjustable, or just welded rigid? Maybe a 1" drop would help keep the shiny side up and the dirty side down ...

Doc, nice work on that RT! What kind of wheels are you using on the front? Brakes? Looks like a scrub brake, not sure ....

In researching reverse trikes, I've discovered that, yes, stance is important - for the most part, low is the way to go. Another factor is, where is the center of gravity? While not knocking the work you did on your RT, Doc, the reason why you're having such trouble turning is because the front end is simply too long, and your weight is distributed more towards the back of the bike, rather than the front. For it to be more effective, either it needs to be wider, or you need to figure out a way to put more weight on the front wheels. Reverse trikes handle better with over half the weight on the front end (actually, I read it was something like 70% of the weight for a good-handling RT).

If I were to use your design (which I might, thank you for the good picture), I would see about mounting brake and throttle directly to the wheel, or simply use a set of handlebars. The steering wheel would be set up closer to the front end, such as putting the mount right between the A-arms. The tie-rods for steering would be relocated to the front, instead of trailing the wheels, and footrests / bumpers added for protection of the front end. The rear end of the bike would be shortened appropriately, moving the seat forward to place more weight on the front wheels. (This is all of course "in the future" planning, but stuff I've picked up along the way that may help with a furutre revision of your project ...)
