Why do you keep making new threads for all these issues you're having?

Ain't gonna help, Hex - he's just going to start another new thread wit something like "I scratched my paint job! Please help!", or "I broke my footpegs!", or "I pulled a wheelie and fell on my @$$!"

Maybe it's time to sell the bike and pick up something easier to work on, like a Cag...

Hell since these other guys have nothing better to do but harassing you I'll help you out.

Since your starter motor is fried. Go to your starter button and follow the wire that leaves the starter button housing to a connection. Than unplug it and plug the wire from your new coil to it. Now the starter button will be your killswitch. Your bike will not move because the clutch spring broke. Take the gear box off and look.

Why do you say that?

He had less than 25 total posts, all about the same bike. It makes sense to put all of the history in one place if people are going to understand the whole issue. I put them together on my time...

sorry if that was misconstrued as harassment.

I had no problem with what you did hexlobular. Hell that was more help than anyother has giving him . This is the post I took as harassing and I only used that word because it was the nicest word I could come up with. He's made 25 total posts and no one as really helped him or even pointed him in the right direction to get the help he is looking for.

Re: starter motor is smoking

my pocket bike does not have springs in the clutch all it has is a wire that goes into a hole and connects to something on the air filter, the bike starts fine it was the ignition coil when u start it it starts and wont move then there is a lot of smoke comeing out of the pull cord and that thing (starter) then i have to shut it off. i will quit posting if u can tell me whats wrong, everything else i got working.

Re: starter motor is smoking

Unless you have a rare Cateye with a manual hand operated clutch it has springs on it. Heck even a manual clutch has return springs!

There is absolutely no connection between any clutch and an airfilter on any motor vehicle, ever!

Your clutch is under the clutch drum which is the roundish cover, held by 4 bolts on the side of the engine, where the small sprocket (also called your pinion) at the end of the drive chain. The springs are what makes the clutch disengage when the engine rpms are low or at idle. If those springs break the clutch will drag and not let it roll well and will have no power. A dragging clutch can also make smoke when it's running!

People aren't picking on you Greasemonkey, it's just that some of the questions posted here are a wee bit annoying to answer repeatedly. Pocket Bikes require a wee bit of mechanical knowhow to be operated and maintained. I blame it on computers and video games; when I was a kid all we did was fix up go-karts and dirt bikes. Now kids can't identify a spark plug without doing a Google search!

Re: starter motor is smoking

The smoke coming out of your pull starter is telling us your starter motor is grounding out and is fried. The wire your talking about must be the throttle cable. If you don't have a clutch spring than that would be why it doesn't move. Have you done what I told you above to do.

Re: starter motor is smoking

Okay, yes, StrayDawg, you're right. That WAS mean of me to do so, and I apologize, guys.

GM111, it's easier to keep all of the postings on your bike to a single thread, rather than in several, so you don't have to keep searching through a bunch of different threads for your answers. I'm sorry, I don't know what the hell I was thinking when I posted that ....

Re: starter motor is smoking

Have you gotten the starter pawl bolt off yet? To get the starter off you will need a 8mm bolt thats 3 1/2" long with at least 3" of threads on it. You will screw the 8mm bolt into where the starter pawl bolt comes out from. You have to keep screwing the 8mm bolt far enough in to get the starter windings passed the magnets inside the housing. Than take the windings and put it in a vise and knock the center out of it cause you will need it for a spacer for the starter pawl bolt or you will bend the pawl bolt.

Re: starter motor is smoking

yes that's what I'm talking about. It's the starter pawl & bolt. Put a rachet and a socket on it and hold the handle of the rachet at 12:00. Than take a hammer and hold it bacwards so you can hit the handle of the rachet with it. Give the rachet a few firm blows with the handle of the hammer. Now don't hit it out of the park just some firm blows with the handle of the hammer while holding the rachet on the bolt firm and straight and it should pop loose. Than do as I said up above with the 8mm bolt. You don't need to take off the starter housing that around the starter windings.
