Re: Stock pipe mod

i just got around to doing mine this weekend. the head pipe was 3 1/2 in inside the chamber. it was so bad i took a pic of it lol

i don't know how much this mod helped me thou. i took about an inch off the head pipe and put 1 1/4 inch the chamber(because thats what i had laying around) i didn't notice much difference but i had bought a jet kit for the carb and oddly enought the stock jet looks bigger than the biggest in the pack of new ones. so i'll have to mess around with that. also have some friends come over witch theres so i can judge if its any faster.

any one know where they sell the super thin drill bits for drilling out carb jets? i have some spares to play with now haha

Lowes or Home Depot or any place that sells accesories for the Dremil. They have a set of really small bits that work perfect

Re: Stock pipe mod

WOW I can't believe thats how far your head tube went into the expansion chamber. Talk about a power robber. Yes, I am getting one of the water cooled clones as well. I'll let everyone know how much of a diff. it made with the ADA head kit.

Re: Stock pipe mod

ok, quick update... when I first did the mod. I took it for a ride on the stock jet, didn't feel much if any better. I have no speedo or real way to know other than feel. so I pulled out the jet kit I ordered and tired to match the stock jet up with them by site, well guess I can't tell a 72 from a 66 by just looking at the hole. the 72 looked the same as stock to me, so I put it in there... took it for a ride and it still felt lazy, even a little less than the stock jet. after posting here, someone said the stock jet was like a 63 or something, so last night I tried the 66 jet and I think it picked up nicely... no more flutter up top like before the pipe mod or anything. good stuff....

Re: Stock pipe mod

if any one has access to one.....
T.I.G welding is like a gift from god.
the absolute best way to weld something that needs to be precise or the material is thin.
and they make some of the prettiest welds.
im out of welding school for the summer and this sounds like its right up my alley.

but i wanna know the power characteristics if the expansion chamber starts right at the cylinder instead of having a head pipe.
thanks for all advice that may be given.

ok a few things to keep in mind with this one, with the welding, im a certified welder and I wouldn't touch it with a stick welder. to much chance for burn through. if you mig it I would set it at the lowest temp and a fairly slow speed. best bet is a tig weld..lol have fun with that one lol. another thing to keep in mind is that the 2 strokers have to have a certain amount of back pressure to run..let alone start! as long as you don't change the diameter of the pipe where it bolts up to the cylinder at, you shouldn't have any probs.. I did a similar mod to the pipe on my gp mx3 and I've already hit 56.. it gave me about a 4mph gain but a noticeable more torque off the line..have fun .

56mph? May I ask what you have done to your bike and how much you weigh?

Re: Stock pipe mod

sweet simple n cheap! my main bik that hit 56 has a true 50cc big bore kit(your stock 47 is actually only a 39.99 displacement) carbon fiber reeds and a after market clutch with a high stall setting on it. not much money invested and took me a afternoon of tuning to do it. I am 6ft 140 lbs. believe it or not. that's how fast it runs.
