Well, here's the thing - "louder" doesn't necessarily mean "better", but it usually means "neighbors calling the police department to complain" ... Your choice, though ....
No rust from the steel wool. It's loosely packed to absorb more sound, and actually runs quieter than my other two bikes with the stock mufflers.
That's why we don't promote street riding on this site.,.,those pesky neighbor's,.,.hehehe just roughlin yur feathers.,.hey, i'm deaf in 1 ear and can't hear outta the other. When i tune my bike i have to go by the vibrations coming from the ground!
with the IP2 pipes gfxracer is selling in the classifieds for $60.00 shipped i don't know why some of you aren't going that route. seems that after you pay for a muffler shop to weld it up, purchasing the material, and do fix up work on their ****** welds you would have been better off coughing up the money for the IP2.
it would make a bit more since for someone with materials in their garage and welding experience.

Because an IP2 won't fit in every frame. On some hf cags, the belly is too big to fit in between the frame rails.
And because the IP2 is a terrible pipe. Unless you have a highly modded engine, they won't give you the gains that you will see for the stock pipe mod, or from other performance pipes.
The IP2 is a complete PITA to mount, the exhaust is directed right at your left foot, and they have no low end or mid range. If you are racing, you definitely do not want one. You are much better off with the Chinese JetPro copy or the stock pipe mod.
is it worth doing, will it out do my stock pipe and im not buying a aftermarket one. simple yes or no, perferibly from spyguy,thestone,cam2,pbr, and the dude with the ktm avaitar thank you highly apreachated
not on your list but who cares? lol
if you want top end shorten header if you want a broader powerband add belly just make sure u take out that pipe going into exp. chamber you will be satisfied with that mod alone, what i did is took the time to polish my exhaust to increase airflow
with all the airflow mods i must be running dangerously lean!
i need to solve that soon.
For a minor mod, you can also cut down the pipes leading into and out of the expansion chamber - sometimes those pipes can stick as much as 2" inside the chamber, robbing you of a lot of power. By removing them, you can gain a noticeable increase.
You can do the mod as it is in the picture. As MX3Rider just pointed out, shorten the header pipe (right where the curve ends to go to the expansion chamber) for more top end power. For a broader powerband, add about an inch or so of belly to the chamber.
And if you're really serious about making it scream, you can install one of these:
