Thinking of getting a/another cag...read this

Hi All,
I got my removeable swingarm (aka Lucky 7) cag today and I've got to let everyone know......THESE THINGS ARE VERY HIGH QUALITY!!! If your thinking of getting a new a/c cag be sure to look into these. I paid $250 shipped.....$80 less than I paid for my Daytona/ZR style cag that I recently sold (we all know prices are dropping) and wasn't impressed with the quality.

Some of the quality points--

1. The Frame- trellis style with aluminum covers,NOT chromed plastic. Welds are very smooth and the paint(probobly powder coat) is excellent. Full four bolt motor plate, not a slant cut three bolt. Bolted on upper motor mount, not the breakage prone welded one. The rear section extends nearly to the back of the faring. There's even a ring welded on the inner side for the cables (throttle and rear brake) to pass through. Rubber steering stops on the forward part of the frame.

2. The Swingarm- obviously removeable which makes removing the carb easier because you don't have to mess with tension adjustment or those pesky wheel spacers and rear brake alignment. The axle adjusters are set inside the swingarm with exterior nut adjusments, heck there were even rubber caps on the end of the adjuster studs.

3. Front Forks- larger OD tubes with cast lower sections and bolt on brake bracket. It will be much easier to add a dual brake setup to this bike because you can just bolt another bracket on instead of having to weld a tab, the bolts and nuts are already there. The triple clamps have a better finish quality, very smooth and polished. There's tabs welded on the forks for the front fender to mount to with two screws on each side instead of the single screw that just goes in a hole in the fork.

4. Misc. Goodies- Manual says real OEM Mitsubitshi engine and it looks to have better finish quality(castings, gearbox, air filter housing) than my last cag. The rear brake is a one piece casting similar to the fronts instead of the two piece bolt together design that is prone to spreading. The wheel castings are smoother with virtually no excess flash and the lips are polished very nicely, no nicks or gouges. The gas cap has a good sealing setup with the plastic nipple sticking down, there's even a piece of foam inside to ensure no gas splashes out. Higher quality fuel line, no springs yet no kinks. The fastners are harder, I didn't strip a one while going over the bike. The tool kit comes with a brass extension to make it easier to inflate/deflate the tires and a one piece plug wrench with the phillips driver on the handle. The body plastic is thicker with better paint quality. The foot pegs are made of a harder material not the soft rubber that easily cracks and splits. The chain guards (front and sharkfin rear) are thick die cut aluminum, not thin chromed steel.

The only negative I found over my last bike are the wheel bearings. They are metal shielded instead of rubber sealed.

I hope this helps those of you who are looking for a new bike and having a hard time deciding based on pictures. This is the best cag for your money..........and NO I don't sell them, I'm just a fellow enthusiast.

Let the mods begin

It Is Faster Then Some Of The Other Cags We One Too.
Fit And Finish Are First Rate Also.
I Think Lucky 7 Is Just A Dealer Though Not A Real Brand Name .
I Plan On Getting A Second One For A Spare Stock Class Bike Soon (after A Water Cooled Bike).

the only downside that I've found is the low peg height, but it's been discussed on the forum how to fix that problem

Ebay seller scootertown2003, he only has 9 feedbacks but was very quick to ship and called the day after I paid to ask color choice. The only thing is his auctions aren't very detailed and he uses the same description for two types of bikes. The RSA version and Daytona style. I had to make sure he sent me the RSA version because that's what was pictured in the auction. Only problem was he only had Red, White, and Blue color sceme left in the RSA style. I'm not too crazy on the color sceme but nothing a little sandpaper, some paint and a few hours won't fix.

The popular Lucky Seven

Thanks for the info Banzai.

My L7 from eBay should be here in two days. I have heard from several sources that the L7 is much better than the HF. Lucky for me, I found this site and did some research before buying my bike. My original purchase was going to be a HF for $300. Then I looked around a bit. My purchase ended up being an L7, filter/stack and ada reed shipped for $230. Quite an upgrade for $70 less. I went to the local Autozone a couple of days ago to look at the HF's, I was not very impressed. They should be a lot cheaper. Shipped for $160 would be fair.

One other thing to mention is that the L7 is a little larger than the HF. That extra inch of leg room can really go a long way if you need it.

There are a lot of small dealers selling these bikes, but their prices just can't compete with the big eBayers who buy them in 1,000 lots. I am realistic about the level of customer service I will get. All I really expect is a new bike dumped on my driveway.

With the last two bikes I got I happened to be home. If you can be there open the box and check the front and rear of the faring in front of the driver. If you happen to have any breakage it will make the claims process much easier.

Good idea

My house is usually last on the fedex routes, so I should be home when it comes. The fedex guy is cool cause he's done for the day, so looking at the bike should be no problem.

Removable Swing Arm = Lucky Seven type
Daytona = Half Fairing
Just different terms for the same bikes

FYI: The only issue I have had so far is the top motor mount broke so I unbolted it and reinforced it with a welder and some scrap steel that I got from CSPCRX.

As stated above the RSA(Removeable Swing Arm) is commonly known as a Lucky 7. Lucky 7 is the seller that originally imported the RSA bike.

The HF(Half Faring) was the original Cag. The FF (Full Faring) is a slightly larger version of the HF and is known as a Daytona or ZR style. They don't have removable swingarms and the build quality is a bit lower. The importer picks the name of the bikes and new ones are popping up all the time. Most have the chrome looking pieces that run along the main frame spars, there is a new type I've noticed that uses a solid side spar with no covers and a box section fixed swingarm.

All of the above have the reed valve motor.

The "mid" bikes or "super" bikes commonly known as the X1, X2, Cateye, FS509, X3, R1 replica etc. are larger bikes that are much heavier and slower. They come with the industrial week wacker type motors.

Anything can be made fast though if you have the $$$$$$$$$$$.

I have a highly modified half fairing cag that I bought a couple months ago and have been looking into buying another bike sometime soon. I have a good feeling that my next bike is going to be a Lucky 7.

I got mine from vortzgame as well. very nice bike, my front rotor is warped a bit though but it could be shipping damage(dont see how it would have gotten hit but...) and I know kids with 3 other types and mine is the fastest off the line. mid range one of the other bikes pulls on me but maybe his reeds start to flutter or something(i got a few small mods like the .3 FG reed) and I stop him from gaining on me and start opening up the gap again, but VERY slowly. but I also weigh about 30 lbs more than this kid riding his.

I spent boxing day trying to sort out a a number of defects an a friend's half faired bike from (edit) so I decided to have a proper look round before buying and this sounds like the bike I settled on. The difference in quality between my friends and mine is nothing short of unbelievable. His looks like it was welded together by an 8 year old Chinese girl.

I bought it from myfirstsuperbike in England. It was delivered today so just looking round the internet for a few tips on setting up properly. Paid £230 for it but well worth the extra over the crap thats common on ebay.

Obviously not as high quality construction as a Polini or Blata but thats like comparing a Ferrari to Hindustan. Theres small defects in the plastics and the chain and wheels don't seem to have been aligned properly but can't argue for the money.
