throttle cable on carb

ok guys thanks to your help i got to the carb and everything on my cag almost off, But... i cant remove the carb because the throttle slide just wont come off. I dont know whats wrong its all the way unscrewed and i try to pull it out but its resisting and it wont budge out. I have tried to pull it but it stops when the throttle cable gets full open and i didnt want to break it. Any Clues on how to get it off and how much force to put on pulling it out?

Re: throttle cable on carb

If its a stock carb you may want to loosen the idle setscrew or try rotating the barrel inside to the left or right. You did unscrew the 12mm cap from the carb top and not the brass cable adjuster;-right?......................When the cap pops off youll see a spring and them the barrel should pull out with a needle attached without any restarints

If it wont still come out...take the throttle cable out of the throttle housing and pull the whole carb out with the cable attached so you can see about getting the cable the rest of the way off...

If its a watercooled Delorto carb theres an automatic choke rod you need to disconnect first before you can get the slider out

Peace.

Re: throttle cable on carb

ok ill try after work tmrw but yea i think i might be able to take the carb off with the throttle attached if i losen the cable on the handlebars. The fuel hose is also a pain to get off though too from the choke : ( does it require lot of tug to pull off? Thx for the response

Re: throttle cable on carb

(Actually, it's a 14mm/ 9/16" cap for most of the stock Cag carbs I've got, CAM2 ...)

The fuel line is supposed to be tight so it won't leak. Just take off the clip on the fuel line and pop it off.
