You just don't get it, do you? I RACE my cag. I don't cruise around on it like its a Harley. I need power through the whole range.
To spell it out: the SHA will run either lean in low/mid, which robs your bottom end for top end, or it can be jetted rich up top to give you better low end at the expense of top end revs. It's performance will ALWAYS be a compromise.
The stock carb allows you to dial in the carb througout the rpm range. You can have optimum low/mid AND top. That makes it all around better.
Yes, the 14/14 is a little bit bigger than a cag carb, but what about that big spray bar right through the middle of it? I'll take a 13mm stocker with a needle that moves out of the way with the slide any day. I can port a stock carb out to within a few tenths of a mm to the SHA. So what is the advantage? Easier tuning for a novice?
A 16/16 is simply too big for a cag. Period.
