I wanted to get my engine more broken in but had a bad clutch, just take it out nd also youll kno if it is the clutch or not which it most likely isnt but there could be broken parts in the bell housing not letting it run

Re: Will my bike still start with a bad clutch

-is the gas fresh and mix to the proper ratio.
-Was there any spark?
-Was the plug wet when you took it out after pulling it for 5 min.'s
- if so then your getting gas.
-If not you should clean the carb. bowl and mainjet and fuel shut-off valve.
-if no spark, check kill switch and disconnect.
-with a new plug, try for spark, if no spark it might be a faulty coil.
-if the gap (clearance) between the coil and the flywheel is more than .015-.020, then you won't get spark either, if you do it'll be too weak to make a spark, but you'll see it.

There are more ques., however, answer these to start, and the guys will have more info for diagnosis.

There's compression, spark, mixture fine, clutch is shot. Carb was taken off and cleaned with carb cleaner. Kill switch is already disconnected. Sprayed some carb cleaner in plug hole to see if it would sputter like we do with big motorcycles...nuttin'. The piston seems to be moving nicely inside the cylinder. Any ideas?

Re: Will my bike still start with a bad clutch

It sounds like the coil is not putting out enough spark to light the comp. gases. Those dang coils go at any time. One guy will go two or more seasons on one coil, and the next guy uses three in one season. So there is no rule when it comes to coils. They just die. You can see the spark, but won't light a bug's cigar. It's happened a few times to me.

Did you also check the reeds, if they are damaged or bent it won't run. A single back fire will pooch them.

Oh, did you check the clearance between the coil and flywhl.? It has to be right.

Re: Will my bike still start with a bad clutch

Coil gap is thickness of a standard business card away from flywheel. Color of spark should be a healthy blue-white - if not, bad/misgapped coil.

Clutch has nothing to do with starting of bike.
