Re: Yellow Jacket engine rep.

That's a good price. I paid $55 from DDM to get that head kit plus shipping. With this you get a brand new engine, carb, filter, spark plug, pull start.

If you have the money, I would get it. Should make a difference compared to a stock motor and with that you always have 2 engines in case 1 breaks or you decide to upgrade it.

But note that it says it uses high octane gasoline, it doesn't tell what compression it has, you should ask the seller about that.

Re: Yellow Jacket engine rep.

Yeah, usually those head kits run high compression, so you're going to need to run around 110 octane or something like that.

Re: Yellow Jacket engine rep.

13:1 - 91 octane, 14:1 - 100 octane, 15:1 105 and so on in most cases.
it might be better parts but usually all those head kits are mass produced and from the origanal head specs the mold will be off about 1-2mm in some places usually so never the less if you buy this engine which i would cuz thats all fresh parts for cheap, you will still have to disassemble the engine to make the corrections nessacary due to the faulty mold. first check the head and see if you can see any sharp or uneven surfaces. like the exhaust port usually has some crap around the inner edge. look for tool mark cuz it did say it was put together by pocketbike mechanic so if there worth 2 cents they would have fixed these things. if you dont know what the hell im talking about i would go to a respectable site and buy a headkit. no reproduction crap the real deal. cuz those are ported by techs before shipped.

Re: Yellow Jacket engine rep.

make sure you check the squish on those headkit after you get it. Like the HKmotos ones, they need work in squish setting in order to bring out the potential power.

Re: Yellow Jacket engine rep.

I just mailed this to the seller "Dose this have a 3,4,or 5 port head?
Also do you machine the China parts to correct the squish and bore on the head?
If so what is the compression ratio on the head?
Thanks."
Fingers crossed. Hope he can answer the question.

Re: Yellow Jacket engine rep.

Just herd back from the seller.
"Hi there
This is a 3 port head engine, A put the kits on the engine myself, I rarely have to machine any parts, basically if the head isn't machines properly from the factory I don't use it. The compression ratio is 16:1
Thanks
Paul"
Now I'm definatly going to buy from hear. But i'm still going to tear it down and check it before I fire it.
I'm probably going to raise the squish to run on 91 thoe.

Re: Yellow Jacket engine rep.

ya check the squish before you break it in and oil the cylinder before you start it for the first time. wow 16:1 hope ya got an alcohol carb or 110 octane race fuel, ha. just cuz he says he doesnt use them doesnt mean ****. that should make you wont to check it twice as bad.

I really dont want to beat this one down but there is no way in h3ll that is a 16:1 motor . We machine our cylinders down alot and I mean alot and there not 16:1 more like 13:1 everyone seems to have high comp ratios that arent even close . our head base is closer to the first fin than that .It is a 4 port motor with the boost port roof changed and the E port opened up . I wouldnt waste the $129 on it. I have one kit left new in box that has been ported and milled and will come with cylinder, piston , rings, head bolts, and all the necessary base gasket parts if your interested and it will come with my directions for perfect setup. $75 to your door

Re: Yellow Jacket engine rep.

Not to put you down highsider, but for $129 he has a brand new engine, which might work better for him than just to get a head kit.

I doubt is 16:1, but you never know lol

Re: Yellow Jacket engine rep.

All those nice pretty parts aren't going to do anything for him if the engine specs are all out of whack! (which they are ,if they are machined in China) They can't even keep the cylinder surface on the case consistent let alone on a head kit.
Bottom line, All China based Cag engines need to be reworked!

Don't get me wrong.. 129.00 for for the engine is one thing....129.00 for an engine that is going to perform the way it is advertised to is completely another!!

Re: Yellow Jacket engine rep.

I already planed on checking the whole engine out when I get it.
I won't be ordering it for a few weeks. But with a hp carb, billet head, metal pullstart and big bore piston. all i need is one of Boosted's heads and I'm set.
I'm new to the site but, I'm almost 32 I've ridden full size bikes since I was 13.
I research everything before I even think of buying. I'm not even getting my first Cag for about another week and a half.

I guess you're right boosted, seems like he knows what he's doing and at least he's doing research, so I'm sure he'll make the best decision for him!

Re: Yellow Jacket engine rep.

I originally was hoping that someone had personal experience with this particular engine. I've read enough to know the boost ports will most likely end at a 90 on this cylinder, and the squish will most likely be over a mm off at least. Just wondered if anyone on the forum had checked it out yet. Ether way it's cheaper than buying a standard cag engine then buying the carb and starter separately+ shipping.
