911 Rep Clutch Question

I have heard many times that the stock clutch on the 911 rep is garbage and it would be better to upgrade. I am a bigger guy so I feel a 3 shoe clutch is best for me.

The problem I have is that I'm not a big time racer and don't want to fork out the 200-300 dollars for a performance clutch.

Is there a clutch out there for the 911 rep that is 3 Shoe adjustable under $100?

And if not, what modifications are required to put in a stock 3 shoe C1 clutch in the rep. I know the drum on the rep is 78mm and the drum on the C1 is 80mm

Is there a help on this anywhere?

Thanks

Re: 911 Rep Clutch Question

you can put a C1 clutch on your 911Rep only change the original bell or machine it to 79,7mm
but belive me an italian clutch is the best choice for you (any trouble)
you need also a 80mm bell too...
ciao

Re: 911 Rep Clutch Question

If I buy that 3 shoe clutch from PBU do I need to buy anything else with it, or can I use my existing bell?

Re: 911 Rep Clutch Question

3 shoe clutches are not cheap, but $200-$300 is a little silly for price. 3s Zocchi clutches start at about $140 and will out-perform anything currently on the market. But do remember these are racing clutches, so for bashing around out in the parking lot, they may not do aqll that well. If you are racing, theres nothing better.

Re: 911 Rep Clutch Question

The 911 replica stock clutch is a joke and definitely needs to be replaced (because it engages way too low in the rpm range). I tried the Chinese adjustable 2 shoe and it was toast in less than 30 minutes. I'd recommend a BZM, Zocchi or Polini clutch. I forgot what size the stock bell (think it was 79 or 78mm?) is on the replica, so you should measure it and then discuss with your dealer before you buy one of the racing clutches so they match up.

Also, one other important point, the bellhousing on the replica motor is not the same size as the polini bellhousing where it mates to the crankcase, so don't buy one of them thinking you can bolt it up (you can buy the 80, 79 or 78mm bells and install them in the replica's bellhousing if you need too). Why is this an issue? Most racers will have all 3 bells usually mounted in their own bellhousings, that way when the clutch wears down they just switch to a smaller bell and the clutch shoes last a lot longer.

Hope that helps...

Re: 911 Rep Clutch Question

I hope so. The p.o.s. stock replica clutch will engage higher than that (but not much).
