attention C1 owners! Must fix topic~

Hey all~ went riding with CAPRA down in Va yesterday and yet another frame broke (area where the footpegs bolts into)..........This is the 3rd bike since I joined the gang since late last year.

I think there was a thread about this topic about welding or bracing that area. From my understanding there is no replacement part if you break it so your Sh** out of luck if you go down!

Has anyone on the board fixed-braced that area? If so explain what you did and post pics if possible. Thanks

I ran a piece of threaded bar from ne side to the other and bolted the pegs onto that. It seems to relieve the stress on that part of the frame and seems to be going fine.

Ill try post a pic when I get a chance.

Good luck

They are a normal spare part in Australia ?

Either side , not cheap but no problem to get.

I have a brace in mine too, just got 8mm nuts and welded them to the right lenght of steel pipe to make a neat fit and bolted it in.

You can weld the bit back on too if you know how to weld cast alloy. It's suprisingly good to weld.

What is the price on that peice? (U.S. dollor) I can get a whole frame for $58.00 . I was thinking about takeing the broken parts to some one to weld.

So on your brace do your pegs screw into the bar or just to the mount?
