BadAzzToyz.com Banshee SHO review with pics (hydra vs SHO)

I cannot post the pictures so to see the pics go here
http://badazztoyz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=223#223

We just barely got these bikes in and are down to one until mid february. We will be doing the review over the next week of this bike. So far I am very impressed with the quality of the bike, you wont snap any of these bolts and dont have to worry about the pullstarter breaking. It does sit a little lower than the Hydra but the pegs on it are top notch. The bike did not overheat on me once in the ten laps I took. We will continue to update this as we learn more or experience problems (if we do).

If you have any questions please post them in the general section.

Upon first inspection you can tell right away that this bike carries the quality that all of the other china bikes lack and anyone who has came into the shop did not believe it was a china bike. Using stainless steel fasteners, braided coolant lines, seat fairing support, quarter turn throttle, certified radiator, external water pump this bike is sure to drop the prices on the italian bikes.

Specifications:
Engine- 49cc two stroke single cylinder water cooled (40x39) bore and stroke
Power-9.7hp@ 13000 rpms
Compression ratio-9:1
Carburetor-18.5mm
Fuel induction-Reed valve direct to crankcase
Ignition-CDI
Coolant system-15 section aluminum radiator
Clutch-2 shoe adjustable
Drive system-Chain
Brakes- Front Dual 120mm Disc Brakes
Rear 80mm Disc Brake
Tires: FRT/RR 110/50-65
Tank Capacity: 1.5 L
Body Material: 2mm Automotive ABS Full Fairings
Frame: MIG-Welded Cast/Extruded Aluminum

Performance-Keep in mind I am comparing this mainly to the hydra

Power- Out of the box this thing flies but the bottom end is lacking even though it is geared 6/74. Once the power comes on it is gone, feeling similar to a kx60. I think with a smaller diameter header pipe it would have a perfect power band. from a stand still the hydra bike will beat it 0-20ish and afterwards the banshee pulls on it. Please keep in mind the hydra is not stock, having a 17mm carburetor and using 6/68 gearing.

Handling- This bike is shorter than the hydra and taller riders may not like it as much but it all comes down to preference. With the way the pegs are situated you dont have to worry about hitting them on they ground like you do with alot of other bikes. Oh yeah the quarter turn throttle really kicks a$$.

Quality-Hands down this a very high quality bike and you cannot compare it to the other bikes it is just not fair http://badazztoyz.com/forum/images/s...icon_smile.gif

Pros-
-Very fast out of the box
-Unbelievable top end
-Top notch in the quality department
-Radiator is awesome
-External water pump is a plus
-Polished aluminum gives it the bling bling factor
-Comes with slicks
-Huge carburetor and filter
-Nice pegs

Cons-
-Shorter than hydra (preference)
-Clutch material suxor
-Its kind of hard to get to the carburetor without removing alot of stuff
-Bottom end is lacking
-Heavier than hydra

Known issues-
-Clutch sux

Got mine today from BadAzz, thanks alot. Good shipping and no breakage whatsoever. The bike is nice although its raining here so I can't ride it. May want to look at clutch before u ride it. One sping was set at 1mm longer than the other, probly not good. Set both at 17mm I think, will see what happens. Only other problem is both sprockets run off center pretty bad, yes the pinion too. I've see back sprockets like that, but the pinion shaft has got to be bent or something. But other than that, it is nice.

nice bike my only question is how are you using stainless steel hardware on an aluminium frame? How do you prevent galvanic corrosion?

Hey Mr Badazz, my mum has warned me about them radiators, she says they look like oil coolers, she says she don't know if they would work too well over here where its 100 fricken degrees, what do you says?

I just don't understand how no one realizes that this bike is a 98% copy of the GRC GP! I used to own a GP and it was an odd handling bike, the C1 handles better IMO. The GP, and I am sure this bike as well, was too stiff. But anyways... it might not even show up on the track, as most china bikes don't...

galvanic corrosion only occurs when the 2 metals are in contact with water. but it will suck when its time to wash your bike. id recomend getting a differant screw matterial that doesnt conflict with the aluninum frame to prevent a rust like breakout.

water does accelerate it but it is possable any time 2 dissimilar metals come in contact, (humidity provides enough water to create a reaction)
i don't think it will be fast but i do think it is a possability.

Not to bust your chops badazz, but from what I understand, the SHO/Banshee would have to race in the open class at most tracks (cuz it's 50cc?), so how would it stand up to other open class pb's (even with modifications)?

I like the bike and would buy one, but not if the other open class bikes are going to eat it's lunch (even if they do cost 2-5 times as much). Of course if I bought it without no intention of using it competatively (or if it is in fact, competitive), then the above wouldn't matter.

Hey fellas, to judge if galvanic corrosion will take place between metals you have to know what metals they are, there's so many different Aluminiums and stainless's that it's impossible to tell.

as far as racing is concerned yes you will be at a disadvantage but here we run a chinese wc class lol. wont steel wool rememdy the corrosion? Im going to get a jet kit and mess with clutch and see if it really needs diff exhaust etc.

Galvanic corrosion isn't even an issue in this case stainless fasteners aren't high on the chart. This would be like saying that the aluminum or magnesium rims on a Corvette or any other car for that matter would corrode right off the steel studs as soon as you washed it or drove it in the rain!

i didn't mean to make it out that galvanic corrosion is some huge problem, i just found it odd to use stainless with aluminium it was something i was taught to avoid.
steel wool, wire brush or sandpaper will remove it, it causes more problems with discoloration, kinda like the battery terminal on a car after time,
as long as the bike is kept dry it should take months before it is even noticable,
not sure of the longevity of these bike but it could be a problem when the bikes are a few years old

Yeah, it's kinda funny b/c my L7 had this problem when I first got it. Mainly just on the brake calipers. Figured the saltwater in the air during shipping from china caused it. Throw in an electrolyte like salt water and you have a real problem. Ahh... that brings back Chem and Physics Lab memories.
