SHO first startup

We did the first startup yesterday now that the brake parts arrived and have been installed. The rider is Jimmer of Houston. He and his Dad are both very well known in Texas PB racing circles and both have been racing for over 30 years. Jimmer started at age 7. His Dad is professional automotive. We are using an intitial mix of Old Skag cheap-a** 10W-30 at 25:1 (deliberately) and will change to synthetic 2-stroke, 40:1 as we go along. We will go through 4 full tanks of fuel before we work it up to max. speed. In less than 5 minutes of operation of first startup it did wheelie on a short straightaway as soon as the clutch kicked in. It has beaucoup power. The weather has not been good here lately, lots of rain, so we need a couple of breaks to put some miles on it before we take the engine apart, also carb and reedbox. The rest of the construction is superb. Engineers are Jimmer, Sr. and Ian Thompson, our guy.

I met Jimmer last weekend. I rode his C1 and it was scary fast... He's a great pick to give an objective review.

39mm stroke @ 20,000 rpm would give it a piston speed 5098 ft/s, Normally 4000ft/s is considered the safe limit. *i*** it can make it to that rpm, it won't like it.

Bangshee?

When we weigh the bike here we will weigh Jimmer at the same time. Hehehe. Actually I would guess he goes about 190-200. Everybody agrees that the engine sounds like a 110cc.

Hey, what's up with the dyno test?

I'd really like a break in guide for this bike, simply describe how you did it. Maybe you could tell us parts that should be instantly replaced as well?

Thanks in advance

Pretty simple. The bike is very well assembled. Nyloc is used throughout, however you should still check brake alignment, etc., as they come from far away and are subject to extreme motion during shipment. We used a 25:1 mix of cheap 10W30 with high octane gas for the first few tanks only, and have switched now to synthetic at 40:1 without any problems. The screws inside the clutch are a bit tight so we have requested that the factory use less of the nyloc. It would be a good idea to take the cover off the clutch and loosen them but don't lose anything. One thing at a time. There are no parts that should be instantly replaced. We want a stiffer clutch spring and have advised the factory of our requirements. We will do the dyno test asap. The pic attached is the SHO and the C1. Jimmer is the rider and he will do the comparison reports.

10W30?

Your using engine oil as a premix to break in?

Yeah that's not that uncommon. It lubes better and doesn't burn away as much as 2-stroke oil.

It's good to see that a manufacturer is finially doing some R&D on their bike instead of just slapping some parts together and rushing off to export them to the USA. I don't see why that's such a hard concept to grasp. The better the quality of the bike, the more that people will want one. Good work guys!

SHO Clutch Design Graphic

The clutch design is similar to the the Polini and the Zocchi however there is a proprietary difference matching it to the engine.

Will the Polini clutches fit the banshee engine?
