Re: bi zeta new clutch....

New info...

Clutches have already been ordered installed and tested.

So far, Clutch life has been very good (keep in mind it just came out so the "tested" clutches are still new) They seem to bite as hard cold as a normal clutch does hot, And when the new clutch is hot forget about it...

However most users are needing to upgrade to a STIFF spring setup.

Yes they work on normal clutch bell's not some other special drum, But keep in mind this is with an Italian bell not a china bell, If this will be an issue or not is unclear at this point.. .

Yes they need to be bed in like other clutches, From what I have heard there is some sort of chemical on the pad area which aides in the bedding process, and may make an odd smoke untill it's been bed in..

Prices are pretty close to that of the normal Italian clutches...

Soooo that is good news for us!

I will continue to keep everyone as up to date on this HUGE step forward as I can...

Blata springs are not the same dimension as BZM/Polini/Zocchi. I don't see how that could work.

I dont get it either 2bamp, but i have heard people talking about that, maybe bzm needed to change the springs for the bigger blata style all together, i dont know..

Re: bi zeta new clutch....

if it makes you guys feel any better my bzm red springs wont fit my newer style banshee backing plate. the spot where the springs rest needs drilled out bigger cuz the bzm springs are wider then the stock springs. and inorder to drill them out the shoe bolts need ground down to get the shoes outta the way cuz they're the pressed on washer deal not the little c clips.

so my red springs are a no go which is too bad cuz i bet with them my bike would be perfect! well almost anyway i need 3 shoe.

Re: bi zeta new clutch....

just spent the entire day at the track with the guys using the delta shoes, a 2 shoe and 3 shoe type.

no slipping at high rpms like has been said BUT they do begin to bog and engage alot lower progressively as they get hotter! so you have to non stop adjust the thing all day but they do bite extremely hard.

im staying away until bzm comes up with a decent spring setup none the less but they work great until you need to adjust

Re: bi zeta new clutch....

anyone got any oppinions on the bzm high tech shoes? cuz i know the carboniums last long and the strongs grip hard and these alloys need adjusted too much but what about the high techs?

Re: bi zeta new clutch....

over priced strong IMHO if your gonna spend that much money on a high tech pads you might as well spend another $15 and have the carboniums

Re: bi zeta new clutch....

i dont think anyone has tried the new pads on zocchie backing plates... and as i sed i only herd from other fourms about using blata springs but apprantley it makes this clutch a absolute beauty. im with hyzer on this im gona wait untill they make more suitable springs before i spend my $$ on them
but so far pretty good they wear alot cleaner and bite hard..

Re: bi zeta new clutch....

Ok, I have done 3 x race meetings so far with the Delta 3-shoe.
Here is the scenario:
I run a GRC RR 06, 50cc BZM 6-port with PHBG20 carb. No other engine porting or other mods have been done. Engine runs up to 15300 rpm with ergal housing and ventlating bell. I am 93kg+ and generally run about 2-3s behind the fastest guy (55kg) at our regular race track (600m), 100km south of Sydney, Australia.
Here is the feedback:
At first bite - . However, after some heat in them, the bogged down feeling became really noticeable and laptimes went backwards.
Initally, the clutch was setup to engage around 7800 - 8000 rpm. Careful observation of the wear pattern at this early stage prompted me to adjust the springs to obtain even wear first and then a further change to move the engagement rpm to 8500 rpm. Things improved after this and with the shoes now bedded I have moved the engagment rpm to about 9300 rpm. Laptimes are getting close to what they were with 3-shoe carbon pads.
Heat is still the killer, but clutch life is much better and I will be interested to see what occurs when a new set of shoes is used with the bedded bell. A little more practice should yield equal results to previous laptimes.
My tip is to be patient and setup the pads with care and try to improve bell cooling and you should extend clutch life by about 5 times your usual wear rate.
Conclusion:
I will continue to use the Delta clutch pads due to the extended wear characteristics exhibited .
