Question Burn pattern

Hi All,

I wanted to know what you all think about this flow/burn pattern. I guess the folowing question is there anything to be gained by adjusting the timing?

Re: Burn pattern

Just a guess,... back-firing? Or just heat burns. Not sure about the timing.

Re: Burn pattern

To me it looks like you are getting a pretty even burn since it's not to one side as I've seen before.

Re: Burn pattern

Is it high comp.? How hot is the plug you're running? What octane fuel are you using? I believe the colour is from the oil on the surface burning. Try Microlon metal treatment to eliminate 80 % of the heat.

Re: Burn pattern

Hi Pegdrag,

I'm using a 14:1 ratio with 97 octane gas. It's a number 9 plug.

It's not back firing and was running fine I just want to see if I can get anymore power out of her.

"Microlon metal treatment" this is the first time I've heard of this. Please explain what this is and how it would benifit my bike.

Re: Burn pattern

Hi Sam, hey 14-1 is totally NFG, if you want more power, try 30-1 or if it's a high comp. motor go 36 or 40-1. Use the expensive synthetic oil, (don't chince out on the oil), yes 97 octane and an octane booster to bring it up to 106-110, and Microlon the motor.

Ok ok, go to Microlon.com, click on the products, then on the motorcycle, single products. Float around that Microlon sight and they can explain it more and better than I could here, not enough room.

Re: Burn pattern

Teflon on Teflon is slippery'r than ice on ice, the most you can do for your motor is to reduce the friction (it's like 80-90%) you'll freak, and hence an amazing amount of heat reduction as well. Slipperiest substance known to man. As is the hemp fibre the strongest natural fibre known on this planet.

Re: Burn pattern

14:1 is the compression ratio not the fuel /oil ratio

Re: Burn pattern

Yeah, that sounds better. I apologize for the misunderstanding. 14-1, would it even fire at that ratio? lol.

Now I'm wondering what happened to the motor for you to take it apart and find the burn pattern. Did the wrist pin brg. let go, main brg.s, did it sieze, what? You never said.

It is common to get oil burn on the underside of a 2-stroke piston, it's what's on top that you should be concerned with. No carbon build up allowed, should be a thin creamy slim on the top and on the head surface.

You see, when you treat the metal before you build the motor, break it in and treat it again while running (all in the instructions), then there is no heat, no burn, no problems. It's truely amazing juice! The fisrt time I used it was on my '69' Kawi MachIII 500 triple, heat up the pistons, rings and bores in the oven and rub in the juice a few times then assemble. With the three cyl. assembled (no heads on) holding them down, I was able to spin the crank easily with my finger tips about 100 rpms and it would take some time to slow to a stop. I couldn't believe it, so slippery. When the heads went back on, there was lots of comp. and man, did that bike ever go. Incredible whack.Ran cool too.

So, did you check out the microlon site yet Sam? Do you understand yet? 50 years in the aircraft industry, you'd think alot more people would know about this miracle juice, but it's been a trade secret for decades.

Hey, I know how to make your bike go faster,... tie it to the back of mine! lol. Is it raining there?

Re: Burn pattern

I'm surprised they don't distribute in the UK. Have you checked all the high performance bike and car shops or suppliers? Even try airplane engine/mechanical suppliers, most aero/eng. will know where to get some Microlon. Investigate, that's the only way to find out who supplies it in your part of the planet, if not, then order some on the net and wait. Not that costly either. And there is no substitute for this juice, it was patented long ago.

Re: Burn pattern

What are the little ports above the intake ports? I'm curious, is that an extra intake port for higher rev's? By the way, nice job.
