c1 Potential

Any one know what power and speed improvements i can expect from:

An after market exhaust?

Big bore kit?

Triple stage reeds?

19mm Carb?

Engine work, reporting etc.? and what would you guys suggest I do if i'm trying to get more HP?

I am planning a new build and would like to see how fast and powerful i can make my C1..

Thanks

Re: c1 Potential

lets start with good bearings first. the best improvement on a china bike, wheel bearings will free up some speed and make it alot safer.

Yes,yes and yes. Do all of that stuff if yer keen. Should work a treat. Not sure that triple stage reeds are any better than fg or cf ones tho. Fit metal brake levers too and replace brake cables with stainless jobbys for less stretch. oh yeah, your gonna want good tyres to go with all that power.

can't really tell you the hp rating....if you really wanna know, I guess you have to dyno your bike before and after each mods. But a carb and a performance pipe will have noticable gains. A euro clutch is a good upgrade as well.

Re: c1 Potential

I have no experience with a C1 myself, but typically, harder clutch springs will give you a faster takeoff because the clutch shoes engage against the clutch drum at higher rpm's. It was a MASSIVE upgrade on my 2-stroke midbike anyway, made it tons more fun. However, the downside is that the clutch might wear faster so if you arn't made of cash and have an expensive clutch you want to keep alive as long as possible, I wouldn't suggest you go crazy with the springs stiffness.

Re: c1 Potential

Thanks Pongo

I currently have a 8.2 hp c1. Was hoping to upgrade another bike and see what hp I can achieve. There are a few guys here with mods but no-one has documented their gains. Before I buy a performance pipe and bigbore kit,I would like to get an idea what I can expect...

Re: c1 Potential

I think its coz dyno time costs as much as a new topend. Just timing yourself over a 1/8 mile or a lap would be a simpler way to measure your improvements. You just won't be able to quote your hp figures. Most people on the street won't be impressed anyway if you tell them that you got a massive 10hp out of it.

Re: c1 Potential

I have been around origami reps for 2 yrs now, i have never dynoed but i know it is the fastest home tuned origami down at our track without using italian parts.

Here are the parts on my bike:
45cc Big bore kit
19mm black dellorto race carb
Fg homemade reeds 0.3mm in thickness.
I tried the zochi pipe and i did not like the change, it gave loads of bottom end but killed top end i was revving out at 12,800. I then modified the standard pipe taking 2 inches off the end of the stinger which made a good improvement to the power. I then ported the barrel and matched it to the crank cases then i ported the piston and set the squish to 0.8mm. The bike now absolutely screams it does 15,800 rpm and it pulls so hard from the bottom its hard to keep the front down out of corners. There is a small flat spot in the mid range and to sort this i need to take 1 inch out of the belly of the expansion chamber.

Hope this has helped a little.

Re: c1 Potential

What do you mean by ported the piston? Set the BDC to be flush with the transfers? Or something else?

But please tell me you're not talking about the little boost holes in the piston

Other than me not understanding that part, Everything sounds good!

Nick.
